You
You have a passion for child rights. With your legal background you are able to write strong advocacy letters to persuade stakeholders. War Child is investing in its advocacy capacity by supporting the objective of the international integrated campaign on "safe educational opportunities for displaced children".
The international advocacy focuses on strengthening the link with work in the field and international advocacy opportunities (Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Netherlands, United Nations in Geneva and New York). In collaboration with internal and external stakeholders we will revise and update the international Advocacy Plan, and support field based advocacy in the project "Partnerships for Peace", and Stepping Stones (the sexual abuse & sex workers Project in Lebanon).
Relevant for future advocacy projects is the development of a lessons learnt and impact assessment of War Child's advocacy efforts. The documenting of the existing participatory advocacy methodologies is key to maintaining its leading position in this area of work. War Child considers it relevant to undertake policy advocacy on Children and Armed Conflict towards duty bearers via UN instruments like the Committee of the Convention of the Rights of the Child (CRC) and Universal Periodic Review (UPR). We also participate in the Netherlands Humanitarian Summit. As part of monitoring performance and progress, you will perform a baseline survey the current impact Advocacy is having now and towards the end of 2015.
You are part of the Advocacy, Campaigning & Communication (ACC) department and you report to the Strategic Global Advocacy Coordinator.

You contribute to the development of a concept note for a side event planned in Geneva in March and June 2015 & a symposium in the Netherlands. You collect stories and materials (newspaper articles, social media, policy commitments, etc) showing the current status on Dutch and UN policy towards "safe educational opportunities for displaced children". You follow-up on our request for accreditation by the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
