The Company
Our client, the Kenya Electricity Generating Company Limited (KenGen) is the leading electric power generation company in Kenya, producing about 80 percent of electricity consumed in the country. To deliver its mandate, the company employs about 2400 staff located in different power plants in the country. KenGen recognizes that to maintain leadership in the liberalized electric energy sub-sector in Kenya and the Eastern Africa Region, it needs to attract and retain the best and highly competent staff.
KenGen is seeking to recruit a highly motivated and professional individual to fill the following position of Human Resource Manager, reporting to the Human Resources and Administration Director. The Manager will be expected to implement performance management and succession planning processes and enforce proper management structures and efficient human resource processes. 
Roles & Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities

Managerial responsibilities

•Provide leadership and ensure efficient and effective management of staff and resources in the HR department.
•Provide KenGen's human capital requirements including but not limited to organisational development, recruitment, manpower planning and training and development in line with the overall strategy.
• Coordinate and ensure the successful implementation of change management initiatives.
• Implement relevant performance management systems and succession plans and ensure the successful implementation of the new organisation structure.
•Manage Union representatives and the collective bargaining agreements negotiation process to boost industrial harmony.
•Develop and maintain competitive remuneration and grading structures.
•Manage the disciplinary, complaints and appeals procedures.
•Ensure efficient provision of staff welfare services such as pension schemes and other welfare provisions.
•Ensure improved usage of SAP or other human resources information systems.
•Develop, deploy and retain talented staff in the HR Department including completing performance appraisals, personal development and succession plans effectively and on time with the established performance management system. 
Requirements
•Minimum of an Undergraduate degree preferably in Human Resource management or a relevant undergraduate degree with
•A post-graduate diploma in Human Resource Management.
•Membership to IHRM is essential
•Possession of a Masters degree or MBA would be an added advantage.
•At least 8-10 years human resource management experience, five of which are at management level including leading a human resources department in a leading organisation

•Proven ability to delicately solve sensitive matters.
