The Company
Our client, the Kenya Electricity Generating Company Limited (KenGen) is the leading electric power generation company in Kenya, producing about 80 percent of electricity consumed in the country. To deliver its mandate, the company employs about 2400 staff located in different power plants in the country. KenGen recognizes that to maintain leadership in the liberalized electric energy sub-sector in Kenya and the Eastern Africa Region, it needs to attract and retain the best and highly competent staff.
KenGen is seeking to recruit a highly motivated and professional individual to fill the following position of Administration Manager, reporting to the Human Resources and Administration Director. The role is responsible for efficient and effective management of KENGEN's administrative, recreational, property and transport services.
Roles & Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:

Managerial responsibilities

•Develop strategic initiatives for the administration department in collaboration with the Human Resource Director.
•Develop, implement and continuously review the operating policies and procedures of the department.
•Develop strategic partnerships and alliances that facilitate the efficient and effective provision of administrative, recreational and transport services.
•Provide leadership and ensure efficient and effective management of staff and resources in the Administration department.
•Oversee KenGen's general administrative activities which include provision of courier, switchboard and cleaning services as well as management of outsourced service providers.
•Coordinate the provision of transport services to KenGen to ensure timely and efficient delivery of services. This includes approving KenGen's list of vehicles to be disposed.
•Provide oversight and ensure adherence to policies on KenGen's clubs and recreational facilities.
•Review monthly reports and develop interventions with regard to issues arising. Prepare ministry reports and reports to the Director on a monthly basis.
•Prepare Board papers on policy proposals and present these to the Procurement Oversight Committee.

Advisory Responsibilities

•Monitor expenses by investigating variances and develop initiatives geared towards achieving cost reduction targets.
•Ensure cost effectiveness and value for money on all general administration services rendered to KenGen and ensure timely procurement and maintenance of vehicles.
•Review and provide oversight with regard to KenGen vehicles for disposal purposes.
•In liaison with procurement department, monitor and gauge the requirements of projects at various times and advise accordingly.
•Prepare responses to queries from the Finance and Audit committee and present these during the scheduled meetings. 
Requirements
•Bachelors Degree in Land Economics, Civil/Construction Engineering OR Bachelors Degree in Business Administration/Management or other Social Sciences
•A post graduate training in facilities management
•Relevant professional qualifications and membership to a professional body e.g Facilities Management Professional( FMP) will be added advantage
•Minimum of 8-10 years experience; five of which should be at manager level with good experience in fleet and administration management.
•Ms Office proficiency is essential
