Sector Advisers

Tawanmandi is a multi-donor programme that supports the development of civil society in Afghanistan with a particular focus on organisations working in the areas of access to justice, anti-corruption, human rights, media and peace building and conflict resolution. Gender, the youth, disability and support to out-of-Kabul civil society are cross-cutting themes. Tawanmandi works to achieve this objective through the provision of funding and capacity development support to Afghan civil society organisations. It currently manages a portfolio of 60 project grants covering 29 provinces and 187 districts of the country, as well as 10 Sector-Based Core Partners. Tawanmandi is approximately a GBP 40 million programme.

In your role as a Sector Adviser you will provide technical advice and guidance to Tawanmandi, the core and project partners in the following areas:

• Developing sector strategies or theories of change;
• Developing sector M&E/results framework;
• Supporting the SBCPs further develop their organisational development plans, including for technical thematic capacity support for other Tawanmandi partners;
• Working with the SBCPs to strengthen their support to the Sector-Based Working Groups (SBWGs);
• Supporting communications.

You will have substantial experience working as an expert or specialist in one of Tawanmandi's sectors or cross-cutting areas. The job also requires expertise in civil society development, particularly in fragile contexts. Knowledge and understanding of Afghanistan, or a similar context, with regards to access to justice, anti-corruption, human rights, media, peace-building and conflict resolution, gender (knowledge of EVAW and VAWG would be an advantage), youth or disability are essential.
