Description
The OECD's mission – Better Policies for Better Lives – promotes policies that will improve the economic and social well-being of people around the world. It provides a unique forum in which governments work together to share experiences on what drives economic, social and environmental change, seeking solutions to common problems.
The OECD Young Professionals Programme is designed to bring highly qualified and motivated entry-level professionals with diverse backgrounds into the Organisation to work on projects linked to the Strategic Orientations of the Secretary-General. At the end of the two year period, it is expected that the selected individuals will be able to compete for appointments to other positions within the Organisation.
Within this framework, the OECD seeks to recruit junior economists and policy analysts in positions across the Organisation. The OECD Young Professionals Programme is open to nationals of an OECD member country who are born on or after 1 January 1982.
Candidate's profile
Academic Background
  • An advanced university degree in a subject of relevance to the selected assignment(s).
  • A Ph.D. (or completion before mid-2015) would be an advantage for certain assignments.
Professional Background
  • Candidates with Master's degree(s) should have gained a minimum of two years' full time professional experience in related fields.
  • International experience in research and analytical activities through studies, internships or one to two years' professional activity would be an asset.
  • Experience with economic statistics and modern econometric techniques (including time–series and panel data techniques) as well as with the development, use and estimation of applied economic models is a requirement for certain assignments.
Tools
  • Knowledge of widely-used software and, for certain assignments, econometric packages (such as Eviews, SPSS, SAS, STATA).
Languages
  • An excellent command of one of the two official languages of the OECD (English and French) and working knowledge of, or willingness to learn, the other.
  • Knowledge of other languages would be an asset.

Contract Duration
  • Two year fixed term.
Pre-selected candidates will be required to take an online written test in December 2014. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to interview following which reference checks will be carried out. The expected start date for successful candidates is in summer 2015.
What the OECD offers
  • Monthly base salary starting from 4 260 EUR exempt of French income tax, plus allowances based on eligibility.
