International Sales and Marketing Advisor
WomenCraft's mission is to increase economic opportunity in the post-conflict tri-border area of Tanzania, Rwanda and Burundi by bringing rural women together, facilitating their growth and connecting their artistry to the global marketplace. Through WomenCraft, over 300 artisans advance themselves, raise stronger families, stimulate their communities and inspire the world around them.
Job Objective: The International Sales and Marketing Manager works in cooperation with the Dar Sales Rep to increase sales of WomenCraft's handcrafted products. Together, they manage domestic and regional customer relationships and identify opportunities to increase sales. As they work together, the Sales Advisor mentors the Dar Sales Rep, so that she is able to manage domestic sales and marketing independently in the future.
The Sales Advisor is goal oriented and highly motivated to reach targeted markets that will exceed sales targets. The Sales Advisor is a problem solver, and can look for solutions to ensure orders are filled on time and customers are satisfied with their products.
Primary Responsibilities:
Mentors Dar Sales Rep
  • Provides Dar Sales Rep with mentorship and one-to-one support through sales planning, problem solving and organizational support
  • Researches and connects Dar Sales Rep with training opportunities. Utilizes every opportunity to build her capacity in sales management and communication skills;
  • Carries out all sales and marketing activities in partnership with Dar Sales Rep with attention to capacity building:
Acquires new customers and coordinates domestic and regional sales and marketing
  • Attracts new domestic and regional customers by researching and contacting potential buyers and identifying new business opportunities;
  • Regularly communicates with current and potential buyers, both in person and through phone, email and social media, to market WomenCraft products. Retains current buyers;
  • Communicates orders to Ngara production team and delivers orders to customers according to standard operating procedures;
  • Maintains a database containing names and contact information of potential customers, suppliers and competitors for domestic and regional markets;
  • Tracks sales targets and produces accurate sales reports.
  • Tracks customer feedback after order is received and incorporate improvements in the production process.
Raises WomenCraft's visibility in Tanzania
  • Sets up, manages and tracks inventory and sales at potential sales outlet in Dar;
  • Networks and explores opportunities to expand partnerships in Dar and within Tanzania;
  • Identifies a circle of volunteer supporters;
Qualifications:
  • Experience in sales preferred;
  • Ability to train, teach and mentor;
  • Interest in handcrafted products preferred;
  • Dynamic and creative person with highly effective written and verbal communication skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to problem-solve and respond effectively to challenges,
  • Work effectively in a small, culturally diverse and team environment with minimal supervision;
  • Demonstrated high level organizational and time management skills including the ability to manage workflows and balance competing priorities;
  • Proficiency in all Mac Operating Systems and iWork suite and Microsoft Office suite;
As this is a part-time position, preference is for an expatriate already living in Dar es Salaam.
How to apply:
Job Length and Location: This is a part-time position based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The contract is one-year, renewable, however the position is expected be filled for a two year duration. This position reports to WomenCraft's Operations Manager and close collaboration with the Advisory Board. Compensation: WomenCraft international positions are funded on a local salary level, so that they can be handed over to national staff and the positions can be sustainable.
