Job Purpose
Lead and inspire a team of up to 100 colleagues to provide a safe, high quality, efficient and cost effective aircraft maintenance services for BA and its customers.
Ensure compliance with all regulatory and corporate requirements and procedures. Engage in BA Engineering business strategy and finance plan development.
Deliver robust plans to achieve business and operational performance targets. Delivery of the BA corporate responsibility local area commitments.
Job Dimensions/Measures
- Colleague management responsibilities of up to 100 staff ranging from airport terminal operations to heavy maintenance management, working on a flexible 24/7 shift basis
Principal Accountabilities
- Responsible for achieving daily shift performance by leading and managing both production and support colleagues
- Plan and develop people and facilities to continuously improve business processes and performance
- Accountable for Health & Safety, Environmental and Quality standards within laid down legislation and corporate procedures
- Influencing and management of support organisation teams within a matrix managed environment
- Performance management, career development, personal and capability development of all colleagues in accordance with BA employment policy
- Working with the BA Engineering Learning Academy identifying colleague development and training needs
- Responsible for leading and implementing change to create a culture of continuous improvement in a production environment in order to increase unit performance
- Evaluate and implement new methodologies to ensure technological advancements are exploited in the workplace
- Develop performance measures that identify key areas where product improvements can be initiated cost effectively

Essential Qualifications
- HNC/HND (or equivalent) preferably in an engineering or aircraft maintenance discipline
- Degree level is desirable
- A management or business qualification is desirable
Experience
- Experience in performance management
- Supervisory or management experience preferably within an unionised environment
- High degree of business awareness
- Experience of delivering a change management programme / culture
Expertise
- Understanding of internal procedures and legislative awareness of Quality, Health Safety and Environment requirements
- PC literate and good understanding of BA Engineering IT systems
- Knowledge of BA Engineering & Corporate financial procedures
- Understanding of Engineering Bargaining Group Agreements and BA employment policies and processes
