COMMUNICATIONS AND ADVOCACY MANAGER 1 POSITION DSM



Plan is an international child - centered Development Organization whose
mission is to achieve lasting improvements in the quality of Iife of deprived
children through a process that unites people across cultures and adds meaning and value to their lives. Plan has been working: in Tanzania since
1991, supporting children and communities to gain better access to health,
education, water, sanitation and hygiene, livelihoods , and protection
through five Country Programs. Plan works with children, their families and
communities to implement programmes at qrassroots level.
Plan Tanzania now invites applications from suitable, qualified and
experienced persons to fill the position described below.

COMMUNICATIONS AND ADVOCACY MANAGER 1 POSITION DSM
Job Purpose: The Communications & Advocacy Manager coordinates the
Communication processes in line with the Country Strategic Plan to ensure
Plan Tanzania is represented effectively. It is therefore upon the incum-
bent to have a full grasp of Plan Tanzania's strategic goals and programs.
The CM also has to work closely with the Program Unit Manager (PUM) to
understand the different programs & projects at the program Unit. The CM
represents Plan Tanzania at various platforms and promotes the Plan
Brand as a child centered community development organization. The CM
has the role of being the Public Relations Agent of the organization. The
role involves dealing with the media and verifies that all correspondence
J:iy any Plan Tanzania staff member with the Media is per the organization's
policy and standards. The CM's role also includes interacting with the
Communities and ensuring the appropriate messages are relayed.
Educational Qualification and Experience

• University degree in Mass Communication or equivalent in a
communication related Discipline
• 3-5 years' experience in communications/PR or journalism. And at
least 2 years at a senior level
• Promotes high performance, innovation and learning
• (ommunicates clearly and effectively
• Gains, develops and retains credibility abou~_his/her performance
• Resource mobilization skills - proposal development and apprais-
als for program work preferably in an NGO setting. '
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary and multicultural environ-
ment.
• Strong analytical, Strong negotiation, facilitating and influencing
skills.
• Excellent networking and partnership skills
• Innovative and independent thinker
• Financial management, budgeting skills, Strong team building
and motivational skills
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as a part of a
team

• Strong planning, organizational skills and excellent grasp of
programming concepts

• Strong management skills in coaching, problem solving and
people management
