Volunteering at Orkeeswa School in rural Tanzania is an experience of a life time that immerses you in local culture, engages you in a challenging and exciting work environment and allows you to serve the needs of our highly motivated and high-achieving students. Orkeeswa School is one of the top schools in the country and serves the local community by educating students from the surrounding villages. Providing the highest quality education to students that would otherwise not have the chance to attend secondary school is an exciting and important cause to be part of.
IEFT is looking for qualified individuals for various challenging and rewarding volunteer opportunities in rural Tanzania. Positions are available for both teaching and non-teaching roles and include:
- English teacher (EFL)
- Math/Science teacher
- Geography teacher
- Office Manager
- Scholarship Program Communications Coordinator
- Media and Marketing Coordinator
- Agriculture Projects Manager
- Computers Adminstrator and Teacher
- Athletics and Activities Coordinator
By working together with IEFT staff and volunteers, you will benefit from a real sense of global solidarity, lasting friendships, and the life changing impact of such a unique and meaningful experience.
You will gain a deeper insight into a different culture and experience things that broaden your perspectives. Many volunteers and staff choose to spend their free time exploring some of East Africa's treasures, including safaris on the Serengeti Plain, climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro, hiking the Ngorongoro Crater, or relaxing on the beaches of Zanzibar Island. Experience Tanzania's diverse indigenous cultures and traditions, distinct wildlife and breathtaking scenery!
There is no program fee to volunteer with IEFT, however candidates are required to cover their own expenses to get to Tanzania and while living in Tanzania, including round-trip airfare, the required Visa and processing fees ($300-$1100 USD, depending on the length of commitment) and regular living expenses (food, travel, etc.). Volunteers that commit to at least one year are eligible for our stipend program; please inquire for more details. All volunteers are provided with shared housing.

Desired Skills and Experience
Qualifications:
- Hold a relevant bachelor's degree
- 1-5 years of relevant work experience
- For teaching positions, applicants should have a teaching certificate and experience teaching in a secondary school classroom, preferrably in an EFL setting
- A minimum one-year commitment
