Associate Editor at The Diplomat
The Diplomat is seeking an Associate Editor and/or an Assistant Editor, for a full-time position working remotely. This is a challenging and fascinating role that offers the chance to make your voice heard on a range of topical issues relevant to the Asia-Pacific.
The position will entail, among other tasks:
  • Regular writing on agreed topics, mostly in the form of daily blog posts, but also longer features from time to time
  • Copyediting and fact checking articles written our in-house and freelance writers
  • Assisting with social media updates
  • Conducting interviews
  • Assisting in editorial planning and commissioning
The successful candidate will offer:
  • A background as a journalist, analyst and/or editor
  • A strong background and deep interest in the Asia-Pacific
  • Outstanding writing and editing skills, including the ability to work with writers who are non-native English speakers
  • Familiarity with the nature of online media
  • Excellent productivity combined with rigorous attention to detail
  • Strong personal motivation
This time, we are particularly seeking candidates with a strong background in military/security topics. However, we will certainly consider other specializations. Candidates for the role of Associate Editor should have three to five years of relevant professional experience. For Assistant Editor, the expectation is one or two years.
Remuneration will be discussed during an interview. The Diplomat is a growing publication and offers opportunities for advancement.
