Global Communities formerly CHF International Rwanda is implementing a five year (2011-2016) Integrated Improved Livelihoods Project (IILP) named Ejo Heza, which aims at improving the livelihoods and food consumption of 75,000 rural poor Rwandans, particularly women, by helping low-income households access the financial services and technical assistance necessary to grow their enterprises. USAID Ejo Heza is an integrated development program focusing on Agriculture, Financial Services, Literacy, Health and Nutrition.
Under Walmart Foundation funding USAID Ejo Heza will expand its reach to an additional 50,000 farmers, mostly women, engaged in the agriculture value chains of dairy, horticulture, maize and beans. It will also provide health and nutrition training to the farmers.
USAID Ejo Heza therefore wishes to recruit a qualified and experienced Consultant to deliver Horticulture / Fruits training to its beneficiaries in June 2014.
The focus of this Consultancy is:
Scope of Work (SOW)
- Review the existing training materials and adapt them in the context of USAID Ejo Heza emphasizing on production techniques and other new technologies that are under promotion and transfer by the researchers and extension agents fromother new technologies that are under promotion and transfer by research and extension institution in charge.
- Develop an appropriate training module adapted to small scale farmers with low literate level,
- Prepare training material and conduct a 4 day Master Training to implementing partners' on horticulture best practices including 3 days of theory and one day of practical lessons
Deliverables
- Training curricula/module on horticultural production best practices (for recommended crops) for Field Officers and Community Volunteers
- A Training Reports
- Recommendations for further trainings
- Recommendations on new technologies to be promoted to the program.
Qualifications required
- Holder of at least a Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture majoring in Crop Production and Horticulture,
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in a development program, research and/or extension services with at least 3 years in horticulture development,
- Experience in developing Training Guides and Modules in agriculture
- Familiar with national policy and strategy for the development of horticulture
- Relevant experience organizing and conducting TOT trainings,
- Fluency in Kinyarwanda and English,
