The Tanzania Atomic Energy Commission (TAEC) is a Regulatory Commission established under the Atomic Energy Act No. 7 of 2003, which became effective on 1st July 2004. The Commission has been mandated to regulate and supervise the use of Atomic Energy and Nuclear Technology so as to protect workers, patients, the public and the environment from harmful effects of both Ionizing and Non-Ionizing Radiation. Further to this TAEC has been mandated to co-ordinate and facilitate the promotion of Nuclear Technology and the safe and peaceful utilization of Atomic Energy
4.1 INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY RESEARCH OFFICER - (1 POST)
4.2 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Create data management system for all applications in the commission (Oracle, SQL and other scientific data management systems);
• Create ICT based training modules and develop yearly schedule for training;
• Conduct ICT based training;
• Troubleshoot computer virus related problems;
• Manage and update the commission website and intranet;
• Manage all servers of the commission;
• Install, maintain, troubleshoot and upgrade computer hardware, software, personal
computer networks, peripheral equipment and electronic mail systems;
• Other duties as assigned to him/her by his/her seniors.

• Master's Degree either in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electronics and Communications Sciences.

4.5 SENIOR RADIATION HEALTH PHYSICS RESEARCH OFFICER - (1 POST)-RE-ADVERTISED
4.6 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Carry out a routine study to identify priority areas for research in the field of dosimetry for dose optimization in Ionizing Radiation practices;
• Design and implement a research programme, and facilitate the dissemination or use of the research outputs;
• Provide consultancy services for safety analysis and assessment in support of authorization services particularly of practices being introduced for the first time;
• Supervise/assist junior staff in the activities of the section;
• Identify training needs of specific radiation protection in the section;
• Prepare document and implement a quality assurance and quality control programme and manual;
• Participate in international annual (e.g. IAEA) protection and therapy level postal TL-dose intercomparisons;
• Participate in International (e.g. IAEA) or regional protection and therapy level intercomparisons for ion chamber calibration and measurements;
• Seek and work for the laboratory accreditation or certification with reputable laboratories in the field; and maintain such accreditation;
• Design and implement follow-up programme for over exposed workers;
• Upgrade dosimetry Laboratory and related equipment and facilities through acquisition of equipment and consumables or refurbishment;
• Design and implement research programmes, and facilitate the dissemination or use of the research outputs;
• Provide consultancy services for safety analysis and assessment in support of authorization services particularly of practices being introduced for the first time;
• Perform any other related duties assigned by his/her seniors.
4.7 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
• Master's Degree either in Nuclear Sciences, Physics, Radiological Health, Medical Physics, Radiation Protection, or Radiation Physics and
• A working experience of at least five (5) years working experience in research work after Masters Degree and
• Candidates must have published at least three scientific publications after Masters Degree
• Master's Degrees with working experience of at least six years after Masters Degree and published at least four scientific publications after Masters Degree will be slotted in PRSS 6.

4.9 RADIATION HEALTH PHYSICS RESEARCH OFFICER - (2 POSTS)
4.10 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Participate in the regional and international dose inter comparisons
• Provides advice to radiation safety officer's liaison with other institutions.
• Responsible for dosimetry and calibration of radiation measuring systems and interpretation of results.
• Implementation and co-ordination of radiation protection services.
• Performance of research activities for the improvement of radiation protection services.
• Will be assigned specific duties in his/her relevant scientific discipline.
• Establish and maintain registers and computer database for radiation sources, licenses and various practices, which shall be kept up to date;
• Formulate and implement appropriate procedures for informing licensees and the public about radiation safety aspects of the regulated practices;
• Assist health physicists in the coordination preparation, amendment of regulations, code of practice, radiation protection guides;
• Assist health physicists in establishing reference and intervention levels pertaining to the protection of radiation workers;
• Formulate and implement appropriate procedures for informing licensees and the public about radiation safety aspects of the regulated practices;

4.11 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

4.13 ESTATE MANAGEMENT RESEARCH ASSISTANT- (1 POST)
4.14 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Supervises maintenance and cleaning of Institutes properties and grounds.
• Examines bills of quantities.
• Follows-up of title deeds and acquisition of land
• Prepares of budgets for minor maintenance works;
• Performs any other duties that may be assigned to him/her by the Head of Section.
4.15 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor degree either in Civil Engineering, Building, Architectural Studies with a minimum of an Upper Second (Honours) from a recognized Institution

4.18 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Head the internal Auditor office;
• Conducts internal Auditor inspections and ensure adherence to the financial policies and procedures;
• Advises the Director General on Auditor reports and queries;
• Advises the Director General on the soundness, adequacy and application of accounting and financial controls.
• Performs any other duties assigned by the Director General.
4.19 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
• Must be registered with NBAA as an Authorized Accountant/ Auditor and holders of
Master's degree in relevant field.
• Holders of CPA (T) or equivalent with working experience of at least five years.

4.25 RADIATION SAFETY INSPECTOR - (1 POST)
4.26 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assist Senior Staff in the inspection and licensing activities;
• Prepare and collect data required for processing various licence; application forms from prospective licensees of ionizing radiation for consideration by the licensing committee;
• Prepare programmes of regulatory inspections of ionizing radiation practices and implement or co-ordinate their implementation;
• Arrange and make follow-up inspections for implementation of safety remedial measures;
• Conduct radiation surveillance and quality control tests of radiation premises and equipment during inspections;
• Prepare inspection & surveillance reports and table them to relevant committees for consideration;
• Establish and maintain a register or inventory of violations by licensees;
• Establish and maintain strategic linkages with designated personnel in zones to monitor compliance or violations;
• Prepare and co-ordinate the implementation of QC and QA programmers for diagnostic radiography, medical imaging and therapy;
• Establish and maintain records for QC and QA for diagnostic radiography, medical imaging and therapy;
