Position: Project Manager, Tanzania Smallholder Sesame Production and Marketing Project
Location: Babati, Tanzania.
Duration: Fixed three (3) year contract

Farm Africa's mission is to reduce poverty permanently by unleashing African farmers' abilities to grow their incomes and manage their natural resources sustainably. A core part of our strategy is to ensure that our interventions are both economically sustainable and scalable.
The 'Improving smallholder livelihoods through the sesame value chain (phase 3)' project will connect 10,000 smallholder farmers with the sesame value chain, using best practice approaches developed by Farm Africa to address the barriers currently facing smallholder farmers, with a particular focus on greater equality between men and women, while engaging young people. The project will increase sesame production by 50% and increase household income from trading, improving the implementation of policies supporting smallholder enterprises and increasing the effectiveness of Tanzanian NGOs supporting agricultural
development.
We are seeking a Project Manger to lead implementation of this project with oversight of all project field and office activities.
They will manage the planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting of all aspects of the project with the project staff and partners.

Reporting to the Country Programme Manager, the Project Manager provides day to day leadership and management of this project. The project areas of operations are Babati, Manyoni and Bahi Districts in Tanzania, though the project office is located in Babati District headquarters.

We are seeking someone with a proven track record in the management of agricultural value chain projects particularly within NGOs in Tanzania.
A minimum of 7 years working experience specializing in agriculture, rural development and or a closely related sector, with at least three 3 years experience of line management in project planning and management within the sector.
Understanding and experience of marketing for the poor (M4P) approaches is desirable. The post holder should have excellent project planning and execution skills, and strong communications and facilitation skills.
You should have a degree in agriculture or closely related subject with a sound knowledge of the agricultural production, agricultural value chains and policy environment in Tanzania.
