Position Summary:
Relief International is currently seeking a passionate and enthusiastic Middle East Programme Development Intern to support our Programme Development efforts in the Middle East. This internship is based in London, UK and will report to the Middle East Regional Programme Development Manager. Interested candidates for this internship should be available to work at least three (3) days a week. If funding becomes available, there is the possibility the position might become a paid position after January 2016; and could offer field experience in our Amman office, Jordan.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Assist the Middle East in developing funding proposals for institutional donors
- Provide desk research on new funding opportunities as request.
- Draft donor communications including programme capacity statements and situation reports
- Draft pre-donor meeting briefings
- Upload all proposals onto relevant donor databases
- Draft programme development tools for staff in the field
- Provide logistical and administrative support to staff, as needed.
- Any other administrative tasks as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
This position demands a dynamic individual with a demonstrated ability to achieve results in a demanding and fast paced environment.
· Demonstrated ability to follow instructions and carefully review work for accuracy; excellent attention to detail
· Excellent organization skills with the ability to prioritize multiple competing priorities
· Bachelor's degree in development or administrative related field preferred but not required.
· Strong writing and editing skills.
· Experience of writing communications for an external audience
· Some knowledge of the Project Cycle Management framework and project log frames.
· Strong computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office applications, especially Word, Excel and Outlook.
· Demonstrable understanding of the Middle East
· English speaking native
Other terms and conditions: though this position is unpaid, we offer travel expenses within Greater London, as well as a daily allowance for lunch. Training and capacity building will be provided, including induction to RI and the Middle East. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis so it is recommended applications apply as soon possible. The intern is expected to start as soon as possible.
