DATA WAREHOUSE DEVELOPER

Overseas Strategic Consulting, Ltd. (0SC) seeks well-qualified applicants for a Data Warehouse Developer position. The Data Warehouse Developer should have experience developing open source data portals (preferably CKAN) through design and development of relational structures, dimensional data modeling, use of structured query language (SQL), ETL development, and data analysis/visualization. The Data Warehouse Developer will work as part of a virtual team supporting a data warehouse for an international development agency. Much of the team interaction will take place via teleconference. Candidates must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, experience working on a collaborative team, and must be independently motivated. The main responsibilities of the Data Warehouse Developer will include, but are not limited to the following:

· Working with techni cal experts to develop standard questionnaires with data codes to be used in multiple countries and in various languages

· Development of associated data dictionary

· Working with stakeholders in development of data models; creating dimensional data models

· Working with data owners in designing ETLs to load and refresh data

· Assist in identifying data entry application with built in quality assurance mechanisms

· Developing data load procedures for data from flat files or relational sources using SQL

· Testing ETLs and validating results with data owners

· Supporting solutions by monitoring and improving data loads, addressing user questions concerning data quality and integrity, monitoring performance, creating/maintaining metadata and communicating functional issues.

· Developing CKAN in order to view useful visualizations of loaded data; ensuring raw data sets and tabular data are available for viewing and download

· Developing thorough documentation of data mappings, business rules, process workflows, and helping to develop user manual for data entry personnel

Qualifications:

Required:

· Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related technical field

· 3+ years experience, SQL, demonstrated experience developing CKAN/DKAN, development in Python, Javascript, and PostgreSQL

· Experience working with users, data owners, and customers

· Experience with web development

· Excellent communication skills.

Desired:

· Experience integrating CKAN with Drupal or with DKAN

· Relational/dimensional data modeling

· Experience working on international projects, preferably in the field of international development
