District Sanitation and Hygiene Coordinator

Plan has been working in Tanzania since 1991, supporting children and communities to gain better access to health, education, water, sanitation and hygiene, livelihoods and protection through five Country Programs.
Plan works with children, their families and communities to implement programmes at grassroots level. It currently operates in seven regions across the country, having physical offices in Mwanza, Geita, Ifakara, Kibaha, Kisarawe and Dar es Salaam, reaching other areas through partnerships and grants such as Sumbawanga, Nkasi, Bahi, Chamwino and Kongwa districts.
Plan Tanzania now invites applications from suitable, qualified and experienced persons to fill the positions described below.

District Sanitation and Hygiene Coordinator
(BASED IN DODOMA WITH FREQUENT TRAVEL TO THE DISTRICTS)

Job Purpose:

To coordinate and ensure the effective implementation (by partners) of the Sanitation and Hygiene Program under Global Sanitation Fund.

Job Requirements

Ensure Program implementation ,supervision and management and enhance the delivery of the program
Serve as the main point of contact with program partners at District
Level (local NGO and District Government)
Supervise and coordinate partner activities in relation to the Program and continue to assess, support and evaluate all program partners during project implementation
Write end of year and quarterly narrative Program reports for donor and validate against associated financial reports
Responsible for budget control by track program spending
Provide timely and regular updates in M&E systems, deviations and take corrective action as needed
Organize and conduct training and orientation to partners on sanitation and hygiene approaches before their field implementation
Focus on the capacity building needs in the communities and support the partners to be able to provide the requires training and support to the communities
Strengthens and institutionalizes corporate monitoring systems and tools at the District level for effective management of outcomes and results
Collection, sharing and dissemination of program learning are at District level and at National level through reporting to the line manager.

Strong analytical ,negotiating ,facilitating ,problem solving and influencing skills
Strong team working skills and commitment to continuous learning
Proficient in use of relevant corporate applications
Cultural sensitivity i.e. building and working effectively within a diverse working environment
Able to work with complexity and ambiguity

Qualifications and Experience
Education -University degree in water /environmental sanitation /community development /social science /development studies;
Masters level will be added advantage
Training -key exposure to courses on: partnership management; project management ;Human Rights'. Convention s e.g. CRC;
Monitoring and Evaluation; and various Water ,Sanitation and
Hygiene interventions approaches in developing countries
Skills and experience on Community Led Total Sanitation (CLTS) and Sanitation Marketing is desirable
Experience -demonstrate experience in community and/or international development including management experience ,including strong experience in multi-year ,large project management ,specifically involving Sanitation and Hygiene

The above positions carry attractive remuneration as per Plan Tanzania salary structure and incentive package.
