Tanzania Geothermal Development Company Limited (TGDC) is a subsidiary company of The Tanzania Electric Supply Company (TANESCO) established in December 2013 and came into operation in July 2014 with a mandate to spearhead geothermal resources in Tanzania.

POSITION: COMMUNICATION OFFICER - REF TGDC/HRLO18
REPORTING TO: MANAGER COMMUNICATION
DEPARTMENT: COMMUNICATION
POSITION OBJECTIVE
Responsible for implementation of communication initiatives as outlined in the corporate and communication strategy
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assist Manager Communication in collating information for answering enquiries from media, individuals and other organizations, often via telephone and email;
• Research, write and distribute press releases to targeted media;
• Collate and analyse media coverage:
• Write and edit in-house magazines, case studies, speeches, articles and annual reports;
• Prepare and supervise the production of publicity brochures, handouts, direct mail leaflets, promotional videos, photographs, films and multimedia programs;
• Organize promotional events including press conferences, exhibitions, and press tours;
• Maintain and update information on the organization's website:
• Foster community relations through events such as open days and through involvement in community initiatives:
• Assist with preparing organizational documents such as annual reports, corporate profiles and submissions
• Develop risk assessments and implement crisis management plans to ensure an organization's reputation is maintained
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor's Degree in Mass Communication or equivalent
• 2-3 years of demonstrable work experience in Communication function In reputable -organization.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
• Pro-active and capable of delivering excellent results while working under pressure with tight deadlines;
• Good team player,
• Problem-solving skills, ability to analyze a case or situation and recommend solutions:
• Professional level skills In graphics and knowledge of desktop publishing for in-house graphics design and production:
• Proven excellence In writing, editing skills in Swahili and English for various audiences;
• Excellent communication, networking, and Inter-personal skills;
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Permanent & Pensionable Including six months of probation.
