POSITION : MECHANICAL/ELECTROMECHANICAL ENGINEERS (6 POSTS)

REPORTING TO: MANAGER ENGINEERING & DRILLING SERVICES
DIRECTORATE: TECHNICAL SERVICES
POSITION OBJECTIVE
Ensure successful execution of plans, costs. and schedules and oversees of mechanical, electrical and geothermal drilling operations for TGDC. Responsible for supervising drilling and service contracts; electrical mechanical engineering design and budget control.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Collect data, carrying out engineering analysis on site and recommending necessary actions;
2. Manage projects using engineering principles and techniques;
3. Keep track of current daily costs, comparing actual costs with expenditure proposals and recommending cost-effective changes;
4. Involve administering drilling and service contracts, electrical mechanical engineering, design and the planning, of wells;
5. Produce details of specifications and outline designs for drilling contractors;
6. Ensure successful execution of plans, costs, schedules and supervision of drilling operations;
7. Supervise the drilling crew on site and duties pertaining to drilling activities;
8. Monitor drilling progress, oversee safety management and ensure the protection of the environment;
9. Working with multidisciplinary professionals evaluate the commercial viability of the well and monitor progress during drilling; to
10. Effectively monitor and ensure cost effective drilling operations as well as strict adherence to drilling ramp-up and drilling schedules; and
11. Obtaining relevant data, carrying out engineering analysis on site and recommending necessary actions and writing up reports.
12. Promotes health and safety within the workplace
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor's Degree of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Electromechanical
Engineering or equivalent;
• Minimum 0-1 year of demonstrable and relevant working experience.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
• Attention to details:
• Interpersonal and negotiation skills
• Ability to build productive working relationships and work within a team;
• Ability to prioritize tasks;
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills'
• Pro-active and capable of delivering excellent results while working under pressure with tight deadlines'
• Sound skills on software packages such as AutoCAD etc.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Permanent & Pensionable Including six months of probation.
