3 Dahrendorf Post-Doctoral Fellow Positions on EU Relations with China, Russia and Ukraine, and North America, respectively.
Fixed term until December 2016
Since 2010, the Hertie School of Governance (Hertie School), the London School of Economics (LSE) and Stiftung Mercator have cooperated to create bi-annual symposia and public research projects in honour of Lord Dahrendorf. These efforts are concentrated on bringing the European debate on key issues in society forward through social science research and engagement with policymakers and with the public.
The future project cycle (2015-2016) will focus on the relationship between Europe and the rest of the world, especially its border zones (Russia and Ukraine; Turkey; North Africa), and the core regions of the world economy (East Asia with a focus on China, and North America). Five transnational, interdisciplinary, and cross-sectoral working groups will explore this theme, and thereby prepare the content for the debate at the Dahrendorf Symposium 2016. They will start their research in January 2015. LSE seeks to appoint three Dahrendorf Postdoctoral Fellows to carry out research in the area of the EU's relationship with China, Russia and Ukraine and North America, respectively.
Candidates should already hold a PhD in International Relations, Political Science, International History, Public Policy or a related discipline, and possess strong analytical background and substantive knowledge of EU-China, Russia and Ukraine, and North America relations, respectively.
The other criteria that will be used when shortlisting for this post can be found on the person specification document attached to this vacancy on the LSE's online recruitment system.
