The role

The Proposal Manager & Technical Writer position supports the Water and Environment Functional Group's business development activities in Africa with a focus on preparing high quality winning technical proposals and also supporting project delivery by ensuring high quality good looking reports are submitted to Clients.

Key Responsibilities

Review Request for Proposals and develop winning strategies and plans in consultation with Management
Prepare and write high quality winning technical proposals for water, environment, and agricultural projects in Africa Region
Coordinate and manage the work of other staff members to ensure all parts of the proposal are ready on time and meet high quality standards
Ensure the staffing meets requirements and the CVs are properly presented
Support the preparation of financial proposals as needed
Participate in the group's business development strategizing, planning ,and management
Support the building of capacity of local and regional staff
Prepare business development and marketing materials
Review project reports and edit/format/improve the presentation and report quality as needed

Key Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

At least a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in a water resources, water supply, or environmental field. An engineering degree is preferred but not mandatory.
At least 2 years of experience with planning and implementation of international development and engineering projects in developing countries. At least 2 years solid experience preparing proposals for international contracts and/or funding grants and with a proven success rate and scoring consistently high technical marks.
Strong technical knowledge in water, environment, or agricultural infrastructure planning/development/management and excellent desktop research skills to fill knowledge gaps
Excellent technical writing skills
Excellent English language skills
Proficient in use of computer software (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, etc) to produce professional looking documents of international standards
Able to work with a multi-disciplinary multi-cultural team
Able to deliver work within tight deadlines and handle heavier work pressure near deadlines
