The role
The Proposal Manager & Technical Writer position supports the Water and Environment Functional Group's business development activities in Africa with a focus on preparing high quality winning technical proposals and also supporting project delivery by ensuring high quality good looking reports are submitted to Clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Review Request for Proposals and develop winning strategies and plans in consultation with Management
- Prepare and write high quality winning technical proposals for water, environment, and agricultural projects in Africa Region
- Coordinate and manage the work of other staff members to ensure all parts of the proposal are ready on time and meet high quality standards
- Ensure the staffing meets requirements and the CVs are properly presented
- Support the preparation of financial proposals as needed
- Participate in the group's business development strategizing, planning ,and management
- Support the building of capacity of local and regional staff
- Prepare business development and marketing materials
- Review project reports and edit/format/improve the presentation and report quality as needed
Key Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
- At least a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in a water resources, water supply, or environmental field. An engineering degree is preferred but not mandatory.
- At least 2 years of experience with planning and implementation of international development and engineering projects in developing countries. At least 2 years solid experience preparing proposals for international contracts and/or funding grants and with a proven success rate and scoring consistently high technical marks.
- Strong technical knowledge in water, environment, or agricultural infrastructure planning/development/management and excellent desktop research skills to fill knowledge gaps
- Excellent technical writing skills
- Excellent English language skills
- Proficient in use of computer software (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, etc) to produce professional looking documents of international standards
- Able to work with a multi-disciplinary multi-cultural team
- Able to deliver work within tight deadlines and handle heavier work pressure near deadlines
