Mobisol's products combine solar energy with innovative mobile technology and microfinance. Mobisol is currently serving over 5,000 customers in Tanzania, Kenya and Rwanda. In the future, Mobisol aspires to scale rapidly in order to reach hundreds of thousands of households within the growing BoP (Bottom of Pyramid) market – thereby stimulating economic and social development in project countries while simultaneously contributing to global environmental protection. 

Our largest operations are in Tanzania where Mobisol has established a strong sales base as well as a qualified and highly motivated local team of over 80 employees. Mobisol Ltd has been established in 2013 to foster and expand our operations within the Tanzanian market and accompany our growth in East Africa.

 

As part of our expansion plan in Tanzania, Mobisol Ltd is looking for Market Hub Development Officer for our new office in Mwanza Region.

 

 

 

The main role of the Market Hub Monitoring Officer is primarily responsible for monitoring the Market Hubs in the associated region through regular Market Hub Monitoring Visits. Monitoring visits are conducted once a month at every Market Hub and recorded on the Market Hub Monitor Visit Sheet. These monitoring visits may be announced in advance, however, random sample visits may also take place without prior notice. During those monitoring visits, the MH Monitoring Officer checks the compliance of a Market Hub with the Market Hub Rules and Regulations. If there are any violations, the Market Hub will be penalized according to the set of penalties formulated in the MH Rules and Regulations. 

The responsibilities include but not limited to:

 

Monitoring of Market Hubs.

  • Conduct one monitoring visit per month per Market Hub
  • Plan and coordinate monitoring visits, in collaboration with the MH Team Leader, Local network Technical Officer and the Marketing and Sales Officer in order to combine the Monitoring Visit with technical and marketing activities
  • Plan the Monitoring Visit at least one day in advance
    • Organize transport to the Market Hub
    • Print out the Monitoring Visit Sheet and follow the guidelines "PREPARATION BEFORE MONITOR VISIT"
  • Follow the Market Hub Quality Assurance Sheet (= "MH Monitor Visit") and evaluate the Market Hub
    • Check if the appearance of the Market Hub (outside and inside) meets Mobisol's predetermined requirements
    • Check if the Market Hub Operator is filling out the documents properly and correctly
    • Check the stock of the Market Hub; compare it to the Inventory Sheet
    • Clarify if the Market Hub has enough systems and blank documents in stock
    • If necessary, update the Market Hub Operator on new developments, e.g. new training points
    • Conduct a role play to assess the performance of the Market Hub Operator and/or the Assistant

 

  • Conduct a follow-up after each Monitoring Visit

 

  • Write a report and share it with the MH Team Leader as well as the MH Development Officer
  • Forward the MH Monitor Visit Sheet to the MH Supervisor and communicate the results of the visit
  • Share notes, suggestions, FAQs from both the MHO and yourself with the MH Team Leader

 

  • Attend monthly Market Hub Operator Meetings in order to gather feedback on current Market Hub-related developments

 

 

Work / information Process

 

The Market Hub Monitoring Officer reports to the Market Hub Team Leader. This report includes a status update on Market Hubs development. ie

ü  The purpose of the report

ü  Issues: If there are repetitions of mistakes this month.

ü  What were the main problems facing this hub in this month.

ü  The performance of both MHO & AMHO for this month as compared to the last month.

ü  Comparison of the hub in terms of the most and the least performer (Appearance of the hub, Documents and folders, Inventory, Comprehension).

ü  Are the SA/IT & MT all active in this hub? Have a list from MHO of all the contractors who were active in his/her hub this month.

ü  All the complaints from SA/IT & MT from MHO or AMHO.

ü  General Observations.

ü  Suggestions from MHO or AMHO

ü  Suggestions from MH Monitoring officer.

 

The MH Team Leader is closely communicating and working with the Market Hub Operators in the region. She/he will monitor Market Hub Operators and assess their performance according to the Market Hub Quality Assurance procedures..

 

 

Qualifications and skills required: 
  • University Degree BA Entrepreneurship, Small Enterprise Management or related

 

  • Minimum experience of  2 years performing related tasks
  • Ability to communicate clearly and succinctly through formal report, presentations and e-mail.
  • Proven track record of working on successful marketing campaigns and/or a portfolio
  • Proven record engaging with local government
  • Must be self-motivated, with an ability to balance multiple projects while working under tight deadlines with close attention to detail, accuracy and quality at all times
  • Market research experience including qualitative and quantitative data analysis would be a bonus.
  • Fluency in English and Swahili Languages as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills
