The Disaster Management (DM) Specialist will support the strengthening of disaster management capacity of the South Asia and Pacific (SAP) National Offices (NOs) with particular emphasis on preparedness and response capability within urban context.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Contribute to the development and implementation of the SAP Humanitarian and Emergency Affairs (HEA) strategic guidance and business plan to ensure alignment and integration with the SAP regional strategy and the partnership DM2020 strategy.
- Coordinate and facilitate the annual disaster management capacity assessment of SAP NOs through the NO Disaster Management (DM) Scorecard process in alignment with the Programme Capability and Performance Review (PCPR) and the Global National Office Dashboard (GNOD).
- Provide technical support to SAP NOs to ensure that the NO DM Scorecard process is well facilitated, engages key NO stakeholders and that its results are utilised to inform the development of NO HEA and disaster management business plans, capacity building plans and disaster preparedness plans.
- Support active engagement with the UN and other international organizations, government agencies, donor agencies, faith-based organisations, media, partners and communities to enhance World Vision's positioning of humanitarian and disaster management programming.
REQUIRED SKILLS INCLUDE:
- Knowledge of Humanitarian Emergency including humanitarian charter, laws and standards.
- Understand minimum standards in SPHERE, Red Cross Code of Conduct, People in Aid, Child Rights.
- Understanding WV vision, mission and HEA standards.
- Strong analytical, organisational, collaborative and facilitation.
- Self managed, creative and has initiative.
- At least 3-5 work years experience in Humanitarian and/or Urban Disaster Management.
- Direct experience in disaster preparedness and/or urban risk management.
- Competent in the use of Microsoft Office computer programs including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Must be willing and able to travel in Asia Pacific.
- May need to work with other virtual teams of different time zones.
