Currently, we are seeking qualified professionals for the following positions to serve for an anticipated USAID-funded assistance activity-Comprehensive Community HIV Prevention Program for Key & Vulnerable Population (CP2) in Tanzania. Availability of any position is contingent upon successful award of the project to FHI 360.
3. Gender Specialist – based in Dar es Salaam
Position Description: Responsible for leading integration of gender sensitive programming targeting Key and Vulnerable Populations which includes young girls 15 - 24 in accordance with global best practice, donor requirements and FHI 360 requirements.
Responsibilities include:
• Guiding implementation of the gender strategy in program implementation and lead gender-related monitoring and evaluation; providing technical assistance to the team and partners to ensure gender transformative approaches are integrated into all interventions;
• Engaging with the GoT, CSOs and community on the implementation of the HIV and SGBV community dialogue-to-action agenda and related community strengthening activities;
• Designing and delivering realistic and pragmatic gender strategies and programming interventions that will lead to positive gender equality outcomes;
• Integrating gender equality considerations in Results-Based Management monitoring and reporting methods;
• Tracking and reporting against gender equality results; develop Terms of Reference, undertake or commission gender equality reviews and audits;
• Reviewing and providing technical feedback on results and project reports to donors to ensure quality and compliance with gender policy and progress toward achieving gender equality results;
• Developing tools, frameworks and resources to enable better gender integration in the project;
• Identifying successful practices in the project that can be showcased in publications, communication materials and conferences.
• Preparing communication materials that highlight the project's gender equality programming, successes and lessons learned.
Position Requirements:
• Master's Degree in public health, social and behavioural science, social work, community development or a related field, with specific emphasis on community-level health promotion and/or education;
• Seven (7) years' experience working in the field of public health and community engagement with progressively increasing responsibility;
• Demonstrated experience designing, managing and implementing community-level health promotion programs in developing countries involving multiple stakeholders;
• Experience in building community competency and capacity for improving health and social outcomes;
• Demonstrated skills in utilizing participatory methodologies for designing, planning, implementing and evaluating local level activities;
• Strong organizational skills including task and time management;
• Demonstrated experience in areas such as grant management, training, team building, program development and problem solving;
• Demonstrated ability to establish and sustain professional relationships and to work collaboratively with host country government counterparts and civil society organizations;
• A Proven record of excellent management, leadership, decision-making and interpersonal skills;
• Demonstrated ability to ensure gender integration in project design, implementation and ME;
• Effective English oral and written communication skills; ability to interact professionally in both English and Kiswahili;
• Ability to navigate politically sensitive terrain and maintain constructive relationships with a diverse set of key stakeholders;
• Demonstrated ability to think strategically and transmit his/her vision to partners and colleagues.
• Has sensitivity to cultural diversity and understanding of the political, contextual, and ethical issues surrounding public health issues in Tanzania.
