AGRICULTURE FIELD MANAGERS (2 POSITIONS)

Role Profile:

Reporting to the Senior Program Manager, the Agriculture Field Managers will be an integral part of the 'Unlocking Agriculture Potential' project, a 3-year program that is designed to strengthen 2,000 medium sized farms across Kenya. The Field Managers shall be responsible for implementation and supervision of the project. This includes supervision of the field officers, achievement of project targets as well as preparation and submission of project reports.

Key Responsibilities

Supervising field officers and o er them support in capacity building and training.

Coordinate data collection and input from Agriculture field officers, into a centralized database on a regular basis ready for analysis and reporting.

Preparing monthly and quarterly status reports and give feedback regularly to the Senior Program Manager and the Branch Manager.

Reviewing and monitoring Agriculture field officers monthly work plans and training schedules.

Developing viable materials/ lessons learnt and best practices with the support of Agriculture Field officers that will increase the awareness and understanding of the project.

Coordinating regional business club activities e.g. workshops, networking events and business trips.

Organizing and coordinating project team activities where appropriate (e.g. annual workshops, training)

Representing Equity Group Foundation in the area of Agriculture / Development program to other Equity sta .

Assist the Senior Program Manager, Agriculture to develop field monitoring and evaluation tools based on feedback from field officers, implementing partners and farmers that will facilitate data collection consistent with the project participatory monitoring and evaluation frame work.

Support implementation of farm level ICT and management systems programs and training farmers on use of the systems.

Occasionally assuming responsibility for continuing project / program activities in the absence of the senior Program Manager, Agriculture.

Assist the senior Program Manager (Agriculture) in coordinating the field officers to actively participate and contribute in development of project plans, budgets and proposals.

Candidate's Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience

Must have attained a minimum of C+ in KCSE

University degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, development studies or related fields. A Masters degree will be an added advantage.

+7 years relevant experience executing agricultural programs.

Ability to evaluate challenges at the farm level and work to coordinate implementation of the program

Ability to achieve excellent results in the training program and grasp practical and theoretical knowledge of management, planning, implementation and evaluation of farming operations

Have a good understanding of Medium sized-farms dynamics.

Desired Competencies

Excellent communication skills, both writing and verbal, strong analytical and quantitative skills and methodological rigor.

Demonstrated problem-solving ability.

Excellent attention to detail with good organizational skills.

Flexible to adjust to work schedules and priorities to meet deadlines and juggle multiple assignments.

Ability to work in a dynamic environment

Hardworking and result oriented.

Social skills for initiating and managing relationships with project partners and stakeholders.
