Paralegal Privacy and Cybersecurity

The Brussels office of global law firm Hunton & Williams is offering a Paralegal position for its Global Privacy and Cybersecurity Practice.

Your Role

As a Paralegal, your role will include:

• Assisting our attorneys with the preparation of legal documents; performing factual and legal research activities; utilizing LEXIS, Westlaw, WestKM and other research databases;
• Drafting correspondence with local counsel under the supervision of our attorneys; preparing memoranda to file;
• Performing routine document reviews; assisting with document organization and filings;
• Obtaining a basic knowledge and understanding of European privacy and data protection rules. Staying abreast of current rules changes in this area and informing team members of same;
• Utilizing basic understanding of regulatory and administrative requirements to complete routine legal filings, particularly with data protection authorities in Europe;
• Organizing and maintaining client and work room files;
• Developing and maintaining a Knowledge Management Repository by identifying, capturing, evaluating, retrieving, and sharing of the information assets, including databases, documents, policies, procedures, and previously un-captured expertise and experience of individual attorneys.

We are looking for candidates who:

• Hold a Law degree (Bachelor or Master), or have acquired relevant knowledge by experience;
• Are familiar with law firm work processes;
• Have a keen interest in the area of privacy, data protection and cybersecurity;
• Have excellent interpersonal communication skills, and can prioritize workload and adapt to changing conditions; are able to work efficiently and accurately under pressure; demonstrate patience, diplomacy, stress tolerance; and have excellent interpersonal communication skills;
• Are prolific in both written and spoken English and Dutch; working knowledge of French and/or German would be an asset;
• Are highly motivated, positive minded and enthusiastic individuals.
