Operations Manager - Africa

• Greenlight Planet is looking for driven, passionate, socially minded experienced profesionals to join its Operations team.

• The Supply Chain & Distribution Operations Manager for East Africa or in short, East Africa Ops Manager will play a key role in Greenlight Planet's recently setup unique Rural Direct Sales channels in Kenya and Uganda (soon to be expanded to rest of East Africa).

• He/she will be based in Nairobi and his/her role shall broadly involve working closely with Greenlight Planet's Distribution Partner and supervising the entire Supply Chain operations and coordinating closely with Greenlight Planet's distribution network and sales force to supervise the distribution operations.

• The role may involve a travel of about one week every month. The incumbent shall report to Vice President – Operations (Global).

• Key responsibilities for this position include:

• Supervise and ensure on-time delivery of stock in close coordination with 3PL/4PL service providers (covering imports of shipments, fast customs clearance, warehousing and hinterland transportation to channel partners and distributors

• Monitor KPIs, TAT, service levels, SOP compliance, etc., generate and analyse MIS on operational parameters.

• Ensure adherence to proper warehousing procedures including physical verification of stocks / Cycle counts, timely GR/GI, etc.

• Coordination with other teams from India, Shenzhen (Productions / Operations / Finance, etc.) and external parties (Transporters/CHA/3PL, etc) for on-time delivery, loading/unloading, etc.

• Ensuring compliance and documentations as per Fiscal / Statutory and regulatory guidelines.

• Coordinate with the zonal Distribution Ops Associates, distributors, sales teams and off-roll sales force to ensure smooth distribution operations

Desired Skills and Experience

The ideal candidate:

• Has a degree or Post Graduate qualification (MBA-preferably Operations) from a Premier institution

• APICS certification (CPIM or CSCP) would be an added bonus

• Has 7-10 years in Supply Chain Management with experience in sales and distribution operations companies. Experience of working in rural markets or working with FMCG / Pharma / product distribution companies would be an added benefit

• Knowledge  and hands on experience of  imports / customs tariffs / procedures, inbound and outbound logistics, including reverse logistics, warehousing & physical distribution, commercial / Fiscal knowledge – GRN/GI, local taxation, entry taxes, etc. for Kenya and Uganda and preferably, entire East Africa

• Ability to manage and work with 3PL/4PL service providers and outsourced logistics service providers

• Ability to work with distributors, sales teams and sales agents to ensure smooth distribution operations

• Knowledge and working experience of a robust ERP / WMS

• Excellent communication skills & energy
