United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees - Emergency Fundraising Campaigns Intern
The High Commissioner for Refugees is mandated by the United Nations to lead and coordinate international action for the worldwide protection of refugees and the resolution of refugee problems. UNHCR's primary purpose is to safeguard the rights and well-being of refugees.
This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain experience in emergency campaigns and communications as part of UNHCR's Global Private Sector Fundraising team. We are looking for an organised and proactive graduate with a strong interest in global refugee issues.
As the Emergency Campaigns Intern, you will be working directly under the Global Fundraising Officer – Emergencies, to assist with the development of UNHCR's global emergency campaigns and keep UNHCR's fundraising network up to speed on the latest developments regarding humanitarian emergencies.
The ideal candidate must:
- Possess a undergraduate/master's degree in a related field
- Have outstanding written and spoken English
- Have excellent organisation and communication skills
- Be available to work full time (minimum 35 hours) a week for a six-month period
- Excel with general computer software used in office management, creative management and be social media savvy.
The Emergency Campaigns Intern will be expected to pro-actively engage with the following responsibilities:
- Drafting regular and timely emergency situation updates for UNHCR fundraising offices worldwide.
- Help develop and manage an "emergency fundraising social media strategy" including Instagram, Facebook and twitter, to promote UNHCR's emergency campaigns and fundraising appeals.
- Producing a quarterly fundraising income revenue report
- Managing the Private Sector Fundraising "emergency Duty Officer" roster and schedules
- Monitoring and updating the unhcr.org emergency donation pages.
- Participate in the development of Emergencies campaigns
- Coordinating weekly conference calls between the Public Information team in Geneva and PSFR in Copenhagen.
- Be on the lookout for new resources, stories, photos, videos, websites which help towards emergency fundraising efforts. Coordinate internal distribution of assets.
- Writing minutes and agendas for meetings.
- Any other administrative duties
