Background
Under the guidance and supervision of the UN Physician In-charge, the incumbent ensures smooth operation of the day-to-day functions, draw blood samples under complete aseptic technique, collect samples of urine, stool and etc from patients, perform diagnostic & screening tests, analyze samples with utmost precision, record results clearly and submit results in a timely fashion to the In-charge UN Physician. The UN Clinical Laboratory provides its services to all staff members and eligible dependants and will extend to other employees only in case of emergency while on duty.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conduct various tests; Maintain records and inventory;
  • Support the Doctor and Nurse;
  • Perform accurately blood tests for complete blood count – Haematology, clinical chemistry and serology etc as well as urinalysis and stool parasitology and transmit results to the Doctor for further action;
  • Ensure cleanliness of all glassware, working bench and other apparatus;
  • Compile on a monthly basis a report on all tests done including inventory of laboratory stock and chemical and reagents to ensure adequate supplies at all times;
  • Maintain periodically the number of all patients examined; Provide full support to the Doctor and Nurse in all Dispensary works.

Required Skills and Experience
Education:
  • University degree or Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology from recognized Institution;
Experience:
  • At least 5 years working experience as a Laboratory Technician; working knowledge of management and administration;
  • Knowledgeable in the usage of computers and office software packages and handling of web based management systems.
Language:
  • Fluency in English and Kiswahili is essential.
