LABORATORY TECHNICIAN

The National institute for Medical Research (NIMR) is a ParastataI Organization under the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare. The Institute is charged with carrying out, controlling coordinating, registering, monitoring and promoting Health Research in Tanzania. NIMR through the funding from Walter Reed Army Institute of Research is seeking to recruit competent staff for the following positions in its Project titled "Malaria Transmission in Tanzania" to be conducted at Mgambo National Service Camp in Tanga Region.

Laboratory Technician - 1 Post
Accountability
The Laboratory Technician will be accountable in the first instance to the Project Coordinator
Duties and Responsibilities
* To participate in Research activities which involve receiving, processing and storage of research samples at appropriate laboratories.
* To perform clinical laboratory tests using standard operating procedures in compliance with GCLP requirements.
* To perform any other related duties assigned to him/her.

Qualifications and Experience
* Holder of Form IV or VI NECTA and a Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology with at least 2 years working experience preferably with research teams.
* Willingness to learn and perform new techniques.
* Good communication skills in both written and Spoken English and Swahili.

Remuneration and Terms:
* The project will be implemented for six months (6) months and therefore successful applicants will be awarded a six months employment contract.
* Attractive salary plus fringe benefits will be offered commensurate with experience.
