DATABASE AND SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR
Summary
This job seeks to provide best services to all customers that use servers under HIS in order to ensure efficient and effective run of the daily business operations for the optimum business performance

Reports To:- Senior Database and System Administrator

Duties  
1. Administer Oracle and SQL database server for applications of CCBS, PAYROLL, SUNSYSTEM, SUNFLOW, CCBS INTERCONNECT, CRS, INFLUX, HRMS, INTRANET, WEBSERVER, and ALL OTHER DATABASES OWN BY HIS by making sure that they up and running and users are able to connect to it.
2. Administer Domain controller (DC) and exchange server at HQ and in all Zones that is DODOMA, MWANZA, MBEYA, ZANZIBAR and ARUSHA by making sure that users are connected to DC and receive their E-Mails.
3. Administer of server operating system that is UNIX, LINUX and WINDOWS 2003 SERVER for the systems mentioned in item 1 and 2 by making sure that the databases and application are running smoothly on it.
4. Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, database systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs for all systems mentioned in item 1, 2 and 3 by constantly monitoring of logs.
5. To proactively monitor the databases, server's Operating system and respectively hardware and all system resources to ensure systems are secure with minimum downtime.
6. Maintain the Disaster recovering plan (DRP) by performing daily backup operations of all required Databases, group files and user files stored on the servers, file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created, and media is recycled and copy sent off site as necessary.
7. Document the DRP procedures and test them.
8. Working closely with IT project managers, developers, users support and IT security section to ensure high applications availability, high security and optimum performance
9. Maintain System Change Log for all hardware, software and Application Systems which run on mentioned on item 1,2 and 3
10. Creating and Maintaining Users of databases, mail server (exchange server), systems and domain controller.
11. Monitor System resources and plan for expansion for all systems.
12. Providing technical support of outdated data 'legacy systems' like sobs and centralized archived mail.
13. Keep management appraised on potential risks by providing security and growth trend report.
14. Ensure smooth Roll-out of new software and hardware of the systems and new Versions (patches) of application systems and Hardware upgrades by testing them on test environment.
15. Maintain configuration compliance to avoid risk of system outages or compromised data.
16. Ensure that all structures, procedures, processes, instructions on Quality Management System are properly documented, maintained and implemented. Also Prepare and maintain necessary documentation of database servers, mail server and domain controller to ensure business continuity
17. Develops, maintain and monitor the process of CDR collection from all over the country on daily basis.
18. Work closely with billing section to ensure all CDR are collected loaded into the databases (interconnect, CCBS and RAMS) in order to maximum revenue collection.
19. Propose and make recommendations for new software and hardware and services to purchase and work with various vendors for procurements.
20. Monitor plans and coordinate the distribution of client software services parks, patches and upgrades.
21. Assists in planning, design, and documentation, implementation of various systems which include servers, databases, network equipment and software applications.
22. Ensure our hardware and software are properly licensed
23. Perform routine services and maintenance for the systems mentioned on item 1, 2 and 3.
24. Promptly act on the problem arises from all systems such E-Mail, Billing system, Payroll System etc and resolving the problems as soon as possible by using your knowledge or consultation with Manager IT Operations.

Qualifications
1. University Degree in Computer science/Electronics Or equivalent qualification. 2. At least Two (2) years experience in IT operations in reputable organization 3. Microsoft Infrastructure Certification 4. Data Base Certification (Added Advantage). 5. Linux/Unix Certification (Added Advantage). 6. Exchange Server / Active directory Administration. 7. Database Administration of Oracle and SQL Server. 8. IT operations with Microsoft OS Systems and Linux/Unix Systems. 9. Stress tolerant, practical, emotional control, integrity, logistical and decisive person. 10. Able to work without supervision with good judgment and to work under pressure.
