Agronomists/Extensionists

International organization currently seeking technical staff for an agricultural value chain project in Tanzania. The project's primary objective is to increase rice and maize productivity and competitiveness. To this end, technical components will focus on improved farming techniques and best practices, improved farm management, strengthened market linkages and competitiveness, trade facilitation and regulatory reform, value chain development for vulnerable groups, and other activities that promote increased food security.

Technical Positions Available:
We are currently seeking applicants for the following long term positions. Relevant experience and minimum Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree in agronomy, business, agricultural economics, or other related disciplines strongly preferred.

Agronomists/Extensionists – Positions available in maize-growing district (Kongwa) and rice-growing districts (Kilombero, Mlimba and Zanzibar). Train and mentor farmers in various best farming practices and provide functional links between project implementation team, communities and other stakeholders. Facilitate rural-level service provision through providing support to a cadre of Village Based Advisers; facilitate individual and group learning through private sector-led demonstrations of best farming practices and technologies; report on all field activities. 1-5 years relevant experience required
