Project Officer - ChildFund International, Uganda

For over seventy years, ChildFund International has provided support to deprived, excluded and vulnerable children to have the capacity to improve their lives and opportunities to become young adults, parents and leaders who bring lasting and positive change to their communities. ChildFund International (Uganda) in partnership with Baylor Uganda is implementing a four year HIV and AIDS project in the four districts of Busia, Kiryandongo, Agago and Kitgum. As the project enters its 4th year, ChildFund International (Uganda)wishes to recruit a highly competent, self-motivated and result oriented person to fill the position of Project Officer as detailed below: Position : Project Officer (01 position) Reports to : Area Manager (Acholi Area Program) Duty Station : Kitgum Maditi (Ibakara Community Office) Job Summary: The primary responsibility of this position is to ensure timely implementation of the project activities in the project areas in accordance with the approved project plans. Key Result Areas: Develop operational plans to guide implementation of project activities. Implement project activities as per the approved annual project plans and project design document (proposal) Manage the project budget (for Kitgum district) in accordance with the donor and ChildFund International (Uganda) policy guidelines. Prepare and submit quality quarterly and annual project reports on the project in accordance with the donor reporting guidelines. Maintain and or strengthen a sound working relationship with different stakeholders including: the district and sub county leadership/administration, health workers and other NGOs providing HIV and AIDS services in the project area. Represent ChildFund International in all strategic coordination meetings related to the project areas of focus within Kitgum district. Provide technical support to project stakeholders like Village Health Teams (VHT), and other community groups to ensure their effective participation in the project. Provide regular updates on the project implementation . progress to the Area Manager/ and Project Coordinator. Routinely monitor and take part in the evaluation of the project. Carry out any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

Requirement: A bachelor's degree in Public Health, Environmental Health Science, Humanities or any closely related field. Knowledge and demonstrated interest in Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission of HIV (PMTCT), as well as care and treatment services promotion especially using community and health facility based systems. Be self-driven, result oriented and able to work under tight deadlines but with very minimal supervision. An understanding of local government public (district) health systems and structures with working experience is a must Additional qualification in project management, Monitoring and Evaluation is an added advantage Good communication, interpersonal, team work and community facilitation skills Excellent written and spoken English. Fluency in the local language (Luo) is highly desirable Strong computer skills particularly Microsoft Office (word, excel and PowerPoint). Ability to ride a motorcycle; Willingness and ability to live in project area. Experience: At least three (3) years experience working in public health related projects. Specific experience in HIV and AIDS as well as Maternal and Child Health promotion is desirable. Experience in managing grant/ project budgets is desirable
