TAARIFA MUHIMU TOKA BODI YA MIKOPO

TAARIFA MUHIMU TOKA BODI YA MIKOPO
SJUIT STUDENTS WHO HAVE BEEN RELOCATED TO OTHER HIGHER LEARNING INSTITUTIONS AND THEIR LOANS POSITIONS
The Higher Education Students' Loans Board (HESLB) has been receiving complaints from former students of the St. Joseph University in Tanzania (SJUIT) Arusha Campus, St. Joseph University College of Agricultural Science and Technology (SJUCAST) and St. Joseph University College of Information Technology (SJUCIT) whose approvals for their establishment had been revoked by the Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU). The affected students complain that they were not allocated loans for the academic year 2015/2016.
Due to these ongoing complaints, the Management of HESLB wishes to inform the students and the general public that:
(i) TCU's revocations affected a total of 3,722 students from above named Institutions who had to be relocated to other Higher Learning Institutions;
(ii) Following relocation of 3,722 students, HESLB was obliged to transfer loans for students who had been allocated loans in academic year 2015/2016 only. A total of 3,374 students fulfilled the criteria for transfer of their loans, and such loans were successfully transferred to their new institutions;
(iii) The remaining 348 students were not allocated loans in academic year 2015/2016 and therefore they had no loans to be transferred;
(iv) The above 348 students included 335 students from SJUIT Arusha Campus, who were suspended from studies in the academic year 2014/2015 for various reasons, and therefore lost their eligibility for loans in the academic year 2015/2016 as no examination results were submitted to HESLB to prove their status;
(v) The remaining 13 students were students formerly admitted to SJUIT, who later left SJUIT and are continuing with studies in other higher learning institutions;
Analysis of relocated students and their loan status is presented in the following Table.
