Specialist: System Analyst at Vodacom


The primary purpose of this role is to design and implement assurance automated checks based on the understanding of the data and integration architecture of the various systems that impacts the billing environment, by compiling systems control landscape diagrams. These system landscape diagrams will contain all the impacted systems where assurance controls must be put in place. 

Job Objectives : 

Understand & assess system architectures and technical system specifications. 

Design system integration landscapes for assurance controls and procedures to mitigate & detect risks. 

Understand & assess the impact of new products and services from a systems perspective to ensure that billing data is aligned to the business requirements and document the impacts in a technical specification. 

Document test cases and perform user acceptance. 

Manage integrity assurance investigation to determine root causes to resolution. 

Conduct adhoc data analysis and reporting through ORACLE SQL, ORACLE PL/SQL scripting. 

Manage Integrity Assurance projects in accordance to project deliverables. 

Produce technical artefacts such as context diagrams and frameworks if required. 

Identify all relevant source systems that send information between each other (i.e. Business Intelligence) to conduct assurance checks 

Identify possible assurance issues between source systems by means of designing reconciliations. 

Extract and utilize data within the Oracle Data Store (ODS). 

Conduct workshops, JAD sessions or presentations to stakeholders, users, management and executive management where required for new or transformational projects. 

Ensure completeness and validity of call data records (including ticket matching) between network elements and Operational Data Store (ODS) by compiling and designing assurance checks. 

Build relationships with external vendors/developers and business users. 

Produce systems integration landscapes for new or modified systems. 

Analyse, design and compile the integration specifications of user requirements. 

Ensure that technical solution meets business requirements. 

Conduct Technology Research where required. 

Provide ad hoc reports to executive management by extracting data from data sources using SQL. 

Job Knowledge: 

Ensure understanding of Integrity & control principles and techniques. (desirable) 

Understanding of IT Systems and procedures. 

Financial/Commercial analysis procedures(desirable) 

Solid understanding of the Microsoft suite especially MS Excel and MS Visio at an advanced level. 

Advance ORACLE SQL and/or ORACLE PL/SQL scripting and stored procedures. 

Knowledge of the telecommunications industry (distinct advantage.) 

Education and Experience: 


Matric / Grade 12 *essential 

A 3-year tertiary qualification minimum NQF Level 5 majoring in IT Systems/Data Analysis/Finance/Business *essential 

At least 3 years working experience in data analysis within a billing or large data volume environment using Oracle or Oracle PL SQL *essential 

At least 3 years' experience in Data and Information Analysis and reporting for integrity assurance purposes (desirable). 

At least 3 years' experience in controls management in a systems application environment for reporting purposes (desirable). 

At least 2 years' experience in processes and workflow definition and management (desirable). 

At least 2 years working in an operational and project management experience (desirable).
