Specialist: IT Storage at Vodacom

MAIN PURPOSE

To provide and support IT Storage infrastructure services for various applications and customers; delivering on new infrastructure projects and storage administration.

JOB OBJECTIVES

·         Assist with projects requiring storage infrastructure to meet requested demand
·         Coordinate Storage Infrastructure Requests assigned via the Infrastructure Demand System
·         Monitor storage infrastructure and any processes related to these systems  and assist with diagnosis and management of faults identified on the storage systems
·         Provide IT Storage operations specialist support ensuring performance, availability and capacity services to IS Group customers
·         Research IT Infrastructure trends ensuring measurable operational efficiencies
·         Assist with reporting on IT storage systems
·         Assist with provisioning of storage
·         Liaison with Systems Support Team as well as with vendor support
·         Design and planning of activities in support of day to day storage production requirements
·         Providing recommendations for effective and efficient storage use

REQUIREMENTS:

Job Knowledge:

·           Strong IT operational specialist experience
·           Good leadership and communication skills
·           Knowledge of IT storage technologies
·           Knowledge and understanding of Operating System platforms
·           Computer programming experience
·           Ability to work with minimal supervision, making decisions based upon priorities, schedules and an understanding of business initiatives.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

·           Matric / Grade 12 essential*
·           3 year relevant Degree or Diploma essential*
·           Minimum 3 to 5 years IT Infrastructure experience essential
