The Dar es Salaam Maritime Institute (DMI) is a Parastatal Organisation under the Ministry of Works, transport and Communication. The Institute is established by the Act of Parliament No.22 of 1991 as a specialized Institution to provide Maritime Education and Training with the aim to center for manpower needs.
DMI is fully accredited by Surface and Marine Transport Regulatory Authority (SUMATRA) to offer education and training in accordance with the international Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watch keeping for Seafarers (STCW), 1978 as amended. DMI is also accredited by the National Council for Technical Education (NACTE) and is recognized by East African Cooperation (EAC) as a Center of Excellence for Maritime Education and Training in East Africa Region.

Accountant (1 position

Accountant (1 position
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
i. Maintains cash book (main) & prepare monthly summary.
ii. Prepare bank reconciliation.
iii. Verifies payment vouchers.
iv. Maintains general ledger and prepares trial balances.
v. Reconciles control accounts with subsidiary ledgers.
vi. Maintains subsidiary ledgers such as debtors, & creditors ledgers, fixed asset register, Journal book.
vii. Supervises accounts assistant activities.
viii. Prepares monthly summary of all subsidiary books.
ix. Performs any other duties as assigned by supervisors.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION
Holder of Bachelor Degree or .Advanced Diploma in Accountancy from a recognized University/Institution, with computer knowledge.
