Does the opportunity to work in Diageo's one and only global IMC, a business that operates in over 50 markets worldwide with operating units based out of Singapore, London, Miami and Dubai interest you?  GTME is a fast-paced, multi-cultural, multi-channel environment with huge growth potential and we're looking for a Global Head of Planning to help us to capitalise on the opportunity!

Travel Retail is sometimes referred to as "the 6th Continent", with over 1billion passengers annually passing through the channel in 2013.  By 2030, this number will have doubled and these "global shoppers" are looking for consistency and quality at every touchpoint.  Growth in passenger numbers is coming from all regions but with 100 new airports opening in China over the next 10 years (350 across total APAC!), we need to be ready to meet the needs of this growing consumer base across all geographies.

We already know a huge amount about our consumers and our shoppers, and the data that exists in the channel could open up a whole new world of opportunity, but the job now is to find new ways to leverage our understanding, to work with our partners brilliantly, to consistently grow the category and to offer experiences and ways of making their lives easier which will consistently delight our shoppers.

Our new Global Head of Planning will work with the masses of information we have and turn it into actionable insight—understanding our shopper needs and expectations and finding ways to consistently exceed them.  We're looking for someone curious and rigorous, who understands the retail environment, has experience of category development and is constantly looking for ways to bring additional value to the business.

PURPOSE OF ROLE
  • Provide Shopper/ Consumer/ Market Planning leadership for total GTME
  • Act as the "glue" between the central brand/ innovation/ cat dev/ futures/ retail development teams and the regional teams
  • Thought leadership to drive next generation growth in the channel.  
ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Provide planning support to central marketing brand and innovation team on ensuring consumer/shopper insights are embedded in the activities/projects
  • Owns category understanding across key airports
  • Lead the brand planning process in the business and joint-with commercial planning cycle
  • Provide inputs into GAME plans and the development and execution of activities.
  • Ensure that insights are inspiring big ideas that drive growth at scale
  • Global trend tracking
  • Line management, coaching & personal development of 2 direct reports
 
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
  • Excellent communicator, both verbal and written, who is great at inspiring & building teams.
  • Track record of building strong, effective relationships
  • Considerable planning experience ideally with some gained in an FMCG environment with some retail experience (or experience of working with retailers)
  • Proven ability to think strategically & drive long-term business growth.
  • Brilliant quantitative and analytical skills
  • Cultural sensitivity with experience of working cross-culturally
  • Possesses a strong creative mind.
