Organizational Setting and Reporting
This position is located in the Administrative Section of the Registry, MICT Arusha Branch. Under the supervision of the Registrar and the guidance of the Administrative Officer and the General Services Officer of the Arusha Branch, the incumbent will provide facilities management support to the operations of the Arusha Branch, including the Kigali Office.
Responsibilities
Within delegated authority, the Facilities Management Assistant will be responsible for the following duties
- Provide scheduling and supervision for construction, repair, maintenance and installation of conventional buildings, temporary buildings, infrastructure and sites and premises including grounds under the responsibility of the MICT Arusha branch.
- Supervise ad hoc tradesmen, local and international junior staff assigned to the team by determining workloads and schedules.
- Review and recommend for approval work orders and assign day to day repair and maintenance tasks to tradesmen being supervised.
- Inspect and report on maintenance work carried out either by contractors or tradesmen and staff under supervision, and ensure proper utilization of available resources.
- Prepare requisitions for maintenance projects, services, materials and building supplies.
- Supervise and record measurements of work taken with respect to work progress and progress payments.
- Follow up on correction of workmanship of contractor's work during the period of the contracts.
- Assist in the preparation of estimates for infrastructure projects and maintenance programs.
- Undertake technical evaluations of bids and proposals for commercially contracted services.
- Prepare certification for approval of completed contractual services of work for progress payments.
- Periodically provide inputs for assessment of performance levels of assigned local and international staff.
- Identify resource requirements for his/her area of responsibility in connection with budget preparations.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the General Services Officer and/or the Administrative Officer.
