Expert Consultancy is currently recruiting a Workshop Supervisor for our client based in Arusha on permanent basis.
JOB TITLE: Workshop Supervisor
REPORTS TO: Head of Department/Workshop Manager

POSITION PURPOSE:
Assisting the Workshop Management in all aspect of work allocation, providing guidance and support to the Maintenance team on shift. Also ensuring that all work has been completed to the highest standard within the time scales required.
SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Ensures the Company workshop is managed effectively and efficiently:
o Plans daily activities of the workshop
o Receives and recording all incoming duties and outgoing instructions or reports.
o Conducts professional repairs of machines
o Stores and monitors the workshop tools
o Updates management of the status of their machinery repair jobs through written reports or by telephone
· Provides advice to the Company management:
o Disseminates information regarding preventive maintenance
· Provides training to the Company workshop staff:
o Establishes the training needs assessment of company workshop staff
o Conducts training sessions in cooperation with Human resources department
o Provide daily and monthly reports to the following individuals, Head of departments/ Human resources manager and Management where necessary.
· Insure availability of workers on either Shift 1 (Day shift) or Shift 2 (Night shift) and work proceed well in all working days.
· Supervise the Maintenance team on a day to day basis ensuring that work has been allocated and completed to the highest standard within the required timescales.
· Expected to monitor productivity and ensure the consistency of the work carried out.
· Motivate, coach and direct the Maintenance team on a day to day basis. Also ensuring that the team maintains proper discipline in terms of performance, time keeping, rest breaks and adheres to Health & Safety at ELRA(Including visitors in company workshop).
· Carry out and/or supervise repairs, maintenance and servicing
· Assist with staffing levels and help to ensure that the workshop team adheres to Company Policies and procedures. This includes absence and performance monitoring.
· To help develop better ways to make sure that the Machine Operators Defect notices/worksheets/job cards/time cards are dealt with on time and efficiently and that they are handed in to the office when completed.
· Monitoring of Job Cards that they are accurately completed and that all stock used is booked out correctly.
· Stock control – assisting in keeping the stores tidy, well organised and efficient.
· Work as a team player to help support and develop the wider workshop team. You will adhere to the Health and Safety at Work Act in all aspects of your work.
PERSONAL SPECIFICATION:
SKILLS (Competence and Aptitudes)
o Excellent practical skills and demonstrable experience of safe ways of working.
o Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of individuals and groups.
o Ability to design and implement relevant systems that would underpin safe and efficient workshop operations.
o Track record of planning & delivering projects within agreed timescales.
o Excellent interpersonal skills.
o An ability to undertake complex work in a planned and systematic manner.
o Demonstrable leadership skills.
o Competent user of MS Office.
PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE:
o Proven relevant experience in production or training fields and within the disciplines practised in the similar company workshop; joinery, woodwork, furniture making or any other related directly.
o Experience of working with people from a range of backgrounds, some from challenging backgrounds (Normal mwananchi).
o Minimum 3-years management/supervisory experience.
KNOWLEDGE:
o Wide knowledge of developing and managing workshop operations is essential and knowledge of training desirable.
o Knowledge of Health & Safety relevant to workshop practice.
QUALIFICATIONS (Educational and Vocational)
o Qualified to at least Government Recognized Technical College or VETA (Diploma of Mechanical Engineering or related study)
o Health and Safety qualifications or certificates desirable.
OTHER FACTORS
o Willingness to be flexible to help the Company to meet changing demands.
o Current full driving license.
Remuneration:
