Led by, Heifer International, a global non-profit humanitarian development organization dedicated to ending hunger & poverty, and implemented by a consortium of partners, the East Africa Dairy Development Project (EADD) Phase II, is an ambitious five-year program designed to help 136,000 smallholder farm families to achieve sustainably improved livelihoods in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania. Based in Nairobi, Kenya, the following position will form part of the regional leadership team, reporting to the Regional Director – EADD.
Regional Production Advisor
The Regional Production Advisor will be responsible for strategic planning and technical guidance to the project in each of the East Africa Dairy Development-II (EADD-II) countries on issues related to increased production and productivity in the dairy industry, which is a key outcome of the project
Leading and working through a team of country Production Advisors and other consortium staff, he/she will provide technical guidance and support to producer organization boards, staff and farmers on dairy production and productivity issues.
Lead the development of a farm business model, as a profitable sustainable and growth proposition to small holder farmer, which could be used to replicate and advise interested farmers particularly youth to adopt dairy farming.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Animal Science or other related field, with a five (5) years' managerial experience in dairy production, dairy value chain management, agriculture development, , or which at least one year is at a regional strategic leadership level.
Regional Program/Operations Manager
The East Africa Dairy Development (EADD-II) Regional Program/Operations Manager, under the overall guidance of the EADD-II Regional Director, will provide the overall operational management support to the Regional Director, and to staff and other EADD-II partners in the implementation of all components of the EADD-II project at Regional level.
The Program/Operations Manager serves as an associate and advisor to the Regional Manager in carrying out the operational management duties at Regional level.
S/he will focus on driving the planning and implementation of the project, monitor project progress and recommend corrective action when needed. S/he will also coordinate in driving, through a regional team, fundraising, communication, monitoring and evaluation and lead other programmatic duties.
The position will also be responsible for reviewing, analyzing and packaging project progress reports, prior to submission to the Regional Director.
Based at the EADD-II Regional Office in Nairobi, Kenya, this position will work closely with both the East Africa team, and the Africa Program staff at Heifer Headquarters.
Minimum Requirements:
a) Bachelor's degree in agriculture economics, agriculture business, business administration, natural resources, rural development administration, international development or related field, plus seven (7) years' job-related managerial experience[ML1].
b) Minimum of one (1) year in regional leadership capacity.
At least seven (7) years needed to satisfy the Manager level requirement.
