TOWN PLANNER – URBAN DESIGN
TOWN PLANNER – URBAN DESIGN. (1 post)
Department/ Office: CityPlan Consultancy Operation Unit
Reporting to: CityPlan Consultancy Operations Manager;
Duty Station: Dar Es Salaam

Responsibilities
• Responsible for all urban planning and design matters including design of programmes, projects, research and consultancy work
• developing creative and original planning solutions to satisfy all parties;
• consulting with stakeholders and other interested parties and negotiating with developers and other professionals, such as surveyors and architects;
• assessing planning applications/assignments and monitoring outcomes as necessary;
• designing layouts and drafting design reports;
• using and maintain information technology systems such as CAD (computer-aided design) or GIS (geographical information systems);
• attending and presenting at planning boards and appeals and at public inquiries;
• keeping up to date with legislation associated with planning, land use and related laws;
• participate on environmental assessment matters including strategic , environmental and social impact studies ;
• participate on studies involving infrastructure plans e.g. water, transport, sanitation, drainage e.t.c.
• scheduling available resources to meet planning targets;
• writing reports, often of a complex nature, which make recommendations or explain detailed regulations. These reports may be for a range of groups, from borough councils to regional assemblies, or members of the public.
• Perform monitoring and evaluation and prepare monthly report of all urban planning and design matters including design of programmes, projects, research and consultancy work
• Perform any other duties as may be assigned by Consultancy Operations Manager

Education
University degree (Bachelor's degree or equivalent) in urban planning, urban design and related fields; Registered as Town Planner
Working Experiences
A minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in urban planning, consultancy, and related fields. Experience in urban design related is desirable. Knowledge of CityPlan areas of professional activities is desired
Language
English and Swahili are the working language of CityPlan group. For this post, fluency in written and oral English is required.

Assessment Method
Evaluation of qualified candidates for this position may includesubstantive assessment which will be followed by competency based interview.
