BACKGROUND: CRS/Tanzania seeks a candidate for an anticipated project aimed at reducing stunting in Tanzania. If awarded, the project will be led by CRS/TZ with a team of Tanzanian organizations and international institutions.
JOB SUMMARY: The Team Leader/Chief of Party will provide vision, strategic leadership, management guidance, and oversight for the successful execution of the project.. The Team Leader/COP will be the primary liaison with the donor and will manage project staff and coordinate consortium partners to ensure high impact project implementation, proper reporting, financial management, and compliance. The Team Leader/COP is expected to coordinate closely with government and other stakeholders to ensure that activities complement ongoing initiatives and adhere to country and global standards and that local government actively takes on certain project interventions and strategies.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES Responsible for overall project planning, implementation and management as well as achievement of project goals and objectives in a timely and cost-effective manner. Serves as the team lead for the project and ensures strong communication and coordination with and between all team members as a means to effectively achieve project objectives. Establishes and achieves high quality performance targets ensuring adherence to technical standards, best practices and donor guidelines. Ensures grant management compliance for the project with donor and CRS regulations. Serves as the primary point of contact and collaboration for the team and in-country stakeholders, including funding agency, implementation partners, government partners and other key stakeholders. Ensures timely, high-quality and complete submission of work plans, quarterly and annual reports, financial reports, and any other reports required by the funding agency. Promotes sustainability of project activities with effective networking, linkages to other programs, capacity building of project staff, and institutional strengthening of implementing partners, local government authorities and community-based organizations.
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
1.At least 10 years' experience working in developing country settings with significant work experience in Sub-Saharan Africa and a strong preference for significant Tanzania experience
2.Extensive experience in the strategic management of complex health or development projects at scale, preferably at either a Chief of Party or Deputy Chief of Party level. Specific technical experience in Nutrition is preferred
3.Experience working in a large, multi-faceted and multi-partner consortium. In particular, the candidate will be able to draw results from all partners while maintaining a strong working relationship and group focus
4.Proven experience managing large multi-million, multi-year budgets and risk planning and management
5.Demonstrated experience supervising effective teams and building the capacity of partners

- Experience managing large amounts of data from multiple sources and strong understanding of and exposure to M&E methodologies, operational research, social behavior change communication, and developing learning agendas
7.Proven experience working with DFID funded projects preferred; qHighly diplomatic with strong oral and written communication skills
8.Advanced degree in international development, health, nutrition or related field.
