TGDC is mandated:
JOB TITLE: SOCIOLOGIST (1 POST) - REF: TGDCIHRLO19 (RE-ADVERTISED)
REPORTING TO: MANAGER ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES
DIRECTORATE: TECHNICAL SERVICES
POSITION OBJECTIVE
Responsible for undertaking Sociological work in the company projects and operations to comply with existing legislation as well as to improve the company's public Image.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Participates in environmental impact assessment studies, in particular social impact assessment and social economic baseline studies;
2. Liaises with consultants for valuation of properties and resettlement plans;
3. In consultation with land surveyors and environmental engineers. be responsible for addressing pre- and post- compensation complaints;
4. Coordinate implementation of Resettlement Action Plan (RAP),
5. Coordinate social economic management and monitoring after resettlement;
6. Review when needed all company projects documents associated with social issues:
7. Closely liaise with public relations department and advise the company on intervention measures to improve the company's image to the public;
8. Promote in-house awareness campaign on environmental and social issues and:
9. Participate in public awareness campaigns, exhibitions and trade fares to promote energy and environmental management programmes of the company
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Undergraduate degree in Sociology or equivalent qualification;
• 2-3 years of demonstrable working experience in Sociological work related to energy environment projects;
REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
• Business acumen and commercial skills:
• Problem-solving skills, ability to analyze a case or situation and recommend solutions
• Flexible and ability to work independently;
• Excellent knowledge on basic ICT applications;
• Good team player
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
• Pro-active and capable of delivering excellent results while working under .pressure with tight' deadlines.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Permanent & Pensionable Including six months of probation.
