Pastoralism is a viable livelihood system that serves the majority of Tanzanians who depend on the system to earn a living; being food, clothing and developments in a wide range of aspects. However, there is evidence that, the denial of national government policies to recognize pastoralism socio - economic contribution to the national development has resulted in underserved pastoralism in terms of provision of quality and adequate veterinary services, extension services, and economical aspects such as marketing and pricing of the livestock. The bottlenecks require imminent responses so that Pastoralism is valued and accorded with due weight.
In view of the above, Professionals are required in order to help implement projects and enable the organization and partners meet the desired objectives.
The organization therefore invites suitably qualified Tanzanians to fill the vacancy stated hereunder;
2. Job title: PASTORALISM ADVOCACY OFFICER – 1 POST
Reporting to: KINNAPA Programme Coordinator,
3. Purpose of the advert
To obtain qualified personnel that will help execute advocacy work of KINNAPA at both local and national levels.
4. Key responsibilities
The Incumbent should be an experienced specialist in Lobbying and Advocacy skills coupled with project planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation but will specifically:
- Ensure institutional relationships and partnerships in conjunction with the KINNAPA Management,
- Ensure delivery of monitoring plan and prepare regular reports on progress towards objectives for the Project.
- Liaise with senior government officials, NGOs and private sector to gather support for achieving the project goals.
- Develop close cooperation with stakeholders and institutions crucial to success of the project, especially decision - makers within the governments.
- Provide oversight and coordination for implementation of project, including supervision of activities contracted to consultants, reviewing terms of reference studies and major reports, production of awareness materials, performing quality control on the outputs of project consultants and sub-contractors.
- Provide technical and strategic assistance in the implementation of project activities utilizing the project document and Critical Pathway.
- Coordinate development of Monitoring and Evaluation Framework with a focus on impact indicators, means of verification and risk identification and mitigation.
- Document lessons from project implementation and make recommendations for more effective implementation and coordination of project activities.
- Initiate and support fundraising during the project implementation to consolidate project interventions.
- Carry out any other duties as may be assigned by his/her superiors,
5. Desirable Qualifications
- Should be a Degree Holder in Law, Economics, Public Policy, and Rangelands Management or related Programmes from recognized institutions.
- A Masters' Degree holder will have an added advantage.
Experience, skills and ability
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in working with Pastoralists and the community,
- Should be a computer literate,
- Experienced in working with donor funded projects and good planning and proposal writing skills,
- Excellent in communication skills, English and Kiswahili, including report writing,
