Job purpose
The Finance Director, East and Southern Africa is responsible for supporting the East and Southern Africa region to achieve sustainable growth through improved financial management and performance. The Finance Director will work closely with the Regional Director and with Finance Directors in the region.
Key Responsibility
• Ensure that ESA financial systems are fit for purpose;
• Support and advise finance directors in ESA region;
• Provide strategic analysis and advice to the Regional Director and senior management;
• People management
Minimum requirements
• Qualified accountant
• Leadership of teams – including building capacity amongst direct reports
• Working within a finance function within a commercial or social business
• Working in developing markets, particularly in Africa
• Working with donors and supporting bidding for donor grants (not essential)
• Working with colleagues in geographically separate locations
• Ability to produce, deliver and present meaningful financial analysis and recommend appropriate actions to enhance organizational performance
• Ability to initiate, develop and maintain relationships with their staff, peers and external stakeholders at a senior level
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, including with people who do not have a background in finance
• SUN accounts (ideally), Vision XL and Excel skills
• Pro-choice
• Interest in public health, particularly sexual and reproductive health
• Strong results orientation
• Flexibility to operate in a changing environment
