Role overview

The VSO Secure Livelihoods program would like to recruit dynamic and qualified personnel with relevant experience in designing competitive strategies to fill vacancy position of Public Information and Communication adviser. The adviser will work with World Food Program, Tanzania.
The adviser will work closely with the WFP's Public Information Unit and the main goal of the role is to providing technical assistance in the designing and implementation of communications strategies and campaigns in order to generate greater awareness, understanding and support for hunger solutions . More specifically, the adviser will:
* Prepare a wide range of multi-media products
* Assess the general reaction of the public to WFP's work
* Build the capacity of WFP staff at all levels of potential impact of press activities and statements;
* Ensure that communications activities promote an accurate image of the organization and its programs amongst its targeted audiences;
* Analyze and articulate political and social events that affect WFP and identify opportunities for WFP to influence public debate on hunger, food aid on development assistance;
* Evaluate the relative effectiveness of strategies and make recommendations for future action to the management of the Public Information Unit and other senior officials accordingly;
* Provide training and technical guidance to ensure consistent quality of work and supervise staff as required;
* Compile field level information required for operational reports to donors; and
* Perform other related duties as required

- Wide experience within communications, international development, media
- Excellent level of English
