Job Summary

Cardno is seeking a Proposal Manager in our EES West office.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

> Planning, developing, and completing proposals and other marketing documents from inception through production and delivery arrangements, including developing proposal management plans, outlines, schedules, writing assignments, graphics, themes, opportunity relevant messaging, production plans, and delivery arrangements
> Managing teams comprised of principals, practice line leaders, technical specialists, and supporting staff throughout the proposal process
> Engaging proactively in internal relationship building with key proposal stakeholders, including principals, practice line leaders, technical specialists, and corporate groups
> Scheduling and leading proposal team meetings, including win strategy discussions, brain storming sessions, kick-off meetings, routine check-in meetings, and formal review meetings
> Maintaining proposal schedules throughout the process, including prioritizing deliverables and keeping the team focused on meeting their individual deadlines
> Writing and preparing sections for inclusion in proposals
> Compiling proposal sections into a Cardno brand-compliant layout or a client-required layout
> Editing and reviewing the proposal content for readability in one voice and compliance with the client request requirements ensuring a complete, responsive, and high quality proposal
> Producing and/or overseeing production of documents and ensuring the schedule is maintained
> Ensuring compliance with the client request and complete, high-quality documents are prepared, including layout, sections, and attachments
> Preparing graphics for inclusion in proposals and/or coordinating with graphic design people
> Leading teams in preparing for interviews and short list presentations, including scheduling meetings for slide preparation, practice go-through, and dry runs
> Preparing PowerPoint presentations slides
> Preparing the interview team for anticipated client questions during the interview, including leading brain storming sessions, assigning technical people to develop responses, and participating in practices sessions
> Assisting with development of project descriptions, resumes, and other marketing materials

Other Requirements

Basic Qualifications:

> Minimum of 10 years of experience in marketing professional services and in technical writing
> Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Technical Communications, English, Journalism, or related technical field (environmental, sciences, engineering, business administration) preferred
> Demonstrated experience leading teams in preparing proposals that led to short list interviews and ultimately to contract wins
> Ability to work in a highly professional manner with diverse teams of professionals, including being responsive to principals, regional managers, practice line leaders, and technical specialists
> Experience managing large-scale proposals for federal and private clients, including maintaining schedules and keeping teams focused on deliverables
> Knowledge of the government procurement processes and requests for proposals
> Excellent time management and communication skills
> Strong technical writing and editorial skills
> Quality assurance expertise and attention to detail especially ensuring that client requirements are met or exceeded in every proposal
> Advanced skills with Adobe InDesign and Microsoft applications, including PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, and Excel for proposal layout, graphics, and production
> Working knowledge with Adobe Suite, including Photoshop, and Illustrator
> Understanding of the proposal development process from inception through production and delivery arrangements, including review cycles and functions, editing, graphics design, and final assembly
> Experience developing proposal management plans, outlines, schedules, writing assignments, graphics, themes, opportunity relevant messaging, production plans, and delivery arrangements
> Experience maintaining proposal schedules throughout the process, including prioritizing deliverables and keeping the team focused on meeting their individual deadlines
> Ability to work with minimal supervision; self-motivated
> Superior customer service skills
> Flexibility and willingness to work extended hours and weekends, when necessary, including some holidays during proposal preparation efforts
