Position: Pharmaceutical Management and Supply Chain Specialist
Department: LEAD Project
Reports to: Supply Chain Manager
Work station: Tanga, Tanzania

The pharmaceutical management and supply chain specialist will be working with the AIDSRelief supply chain, clinical, management, strategic information within the LEAD consortium that include, Maryland Global Initiative Tanzania(MGIT), IMA World Health; Catholic Relief Services (CRS) and Futures Group.

The person will have direct and indirect working relationship with Ministry of Health and Social Welfare; USAID/CDC; Regional and Districts Health Management teams, hospitals and health centers offering ART and PMTCT services in Tanga, Manyara and Mara regions. In addition, the pharmaceutical management and supply chain specialist will work with other ART partners in and outside Tanzania as necessary.

Essential Functions:
Coordinate LEAD responsibility in Tanzania for supply chain management to ensure distributed HIV/AIDS commodities meet required specifications.
Coordinate training of LEAD partners including LPTF on forecasting, ordering, tracking inventory, and monitoring HIV/AIDS commodities consumptions.
Provide guidance to ensure that procurement of drugs and overall pharmaceutical management procedures follow respective national requirements.
Ensure that logistical management systems envisioned will be adapted to existing Tanzania national infrastructure.
Spearhead the set up and strengthening of key lab reagents and supplies pipeline system that is efficient and effective;
Collect, synthesize and transmit data & information related to HIV/AIDS commodities.
Work to develop, strengthen and integrate HIV/AIDS commodities supply system with LPTF overall pharmaceutical management systems.
Maintain documentation of all work and decision making processes under Tanzania LEAD pharmaceutical management portfolio at a country level.
Mentoring LPTF's on Good Pharmacy practice, adherence, Good dispensing practice, Pharmacovigilance and Rational drug use.
To collaborate with Country ART Programs in pharmaceutical management and capacity building for individual local treatment facilities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Job Requirements:
Education/Experience: Bachelor of Pharmacy with at least 2 years of experience in ART Programs. Experience using computer applications including word processing, spreadsheets, Power point presentations and pharmacy information systems required.

Knowledge/Skills: Thorough knowledge of national laws and regulations governing pharmacy services; proficient in the use and application of new medications and technology; effective verbal and written communication skills are required; ability to effectively participate on an interdisciplinary team or committee; knowledge of pharmacokinetics and pharmacotherapeutics; problem solving ability and analytical thinking preferred. Knowledge on health commodities management and supply chain management is important.

Working Conditions
This job involves traveling; at least 70% outside Dar es Salaam and this will include extensive travel to remote areas of Manyara, Tanga and Mara regions
