Economist

Economist
Established in 1991, the EBRD aims to assist more than 30 countries from the Southern and Eastern Mediterranean, to Central and Eastern Europe, to Central Asia. Our investments foster growth and innovation and promote countries' transition to market economies.
We are currently recruiting for an Economist to strengthen our Research Pillar within the Office of the Chief Economist (OCE).
OCE consists of a team of around 45 economists and analysts. It contributes to the operational, policy and strategy work of the Bank and provides intellectual leadership on economic and financial aspects of transition in the region. Within OCE, the Research Pillar is responsible for research on critical economic issues relevant to the transition region and EBRD operations, macroeconomic analysis in support of OCE's country work, and relations with academia. It also leads the design and implementation of large-scale surveys (such as the BEEPS, BEPS, and LiTS surveys); randomised impact studies; and the production of most major external publications produced by the OCE, including the annual Transition Report.
The Economist in the Research Pillar reports to the Director of Research and plays a core role in providing intellectual leadership on their area of expertise to the rest of the Bank. They contribute to the preparation of specific products and processes under the supervision of Senior or Lead Economists, such as the production of the annual Transition Report, special OCE publications, and the management of one or more large-scale surveys. Along with mentoring interns and analysts in the team, the Economist also maintains responsibilities as a research economist and represents OCE at relevant conferences and maintains links between OCE and academia.
