YOUTH REPORTERS NETWORK INTERN

Location: Mbeya, Tanzania (with frequent travel to Mbeya and Iringa Villages)
Restless Development is the national banner carrier for youth-led development. We've been in Tanzania since 1993, growing, changing and responding to the most urgent issues facing young Tanzanians.
The Young Reporters Network (YRN) falls under the Mabinti Tushike Hatamu(MTH) project delivered in partnership with UNICEF and Tanzania AIDS Commission, and implemented in Mbeya, Iringa and Temeke. MTH aims to test, evaluate and share strategies for reducing the vulnerability of adolescent out-of-school females aged 10-19 to HIV and AIDS, pregnancy and violence.
Working alongside the MTH project teams, you will support the YRN to grow in Mbeya. You will focus on educating, training, and mentoring the young women and girls in radio reporting, writing, editing and production of children's programmes and mediated radio products. You will provide young girl reporters with basic journalism skills; and increase active participation of children and young people in the production of children's programmes in the districts.
You will support MTH volunteers to mobilize children to identify issues affecting them, and gather information and stories for broadcasting on community radio stations; Nuru FM (Iringa) and Generation (Mbeya).
